Poelbaum Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Well, to help me get over the pain of further delay required to send guitar back to Heritage to fix the nut, Jay has sent me some pics of my guitar. It is IMHO stunning! Really pleased with the wood and finish (VWB). Cant wait to get it. No idea how long it will take though. I am tempted to quote Tom Petty but that would be so cliche.
fxdx99 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Wow - stunning is RIGHT. That's one great finish. Thanks for the pics and hope you get it real soon.
FredZepp Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Oh yes , the pictures are quite pleasing... and I would think that it helps to be able to see what to anticipate..... VERY NICE. Hang in there...
iim7v7im7 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Poelbaum, Very nice looking guitar. I know you'll be happy once it arrives. Mine is very similar to the one you ordered (see below). Bob
pegleg32 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Great flame on that one!! It'll be worth the wait.
zookroo1 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 That's awesome! Hopefully you won't go crazy waiting for it to arrive!
Kuz Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Man they are perfecting that Vintage Wine Burst. The transition on yours I like better than mine (although mine ain't too shabby )

Poelbaum Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 Man they are perfecting that Vintage Wine Burst. The transition on yours I like better than mine (although mine ain't too shabby ) Well that is high praise coming from you (having seen yours).I did ask them to make it slightly darker than normal. don't really know if that was communicated or not. But I think it came out great. Thanks to all. Hopefully I will see it in person within the month.
erplander Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Wow, that is a beautiful guitar! I really like the Vintage Wine Burst. Thanks for posting. Hope the wait will go by quickly.
tulk1 Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Stunning beauties, once again. The black finger rests kinda throw me. But the guitar finishes are stellar.
jmc7581 Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Dang! Beautiful. Those pix really complicate my life. Now, as I dream about getting a 535, it's not just OSB vs. Dark ASB - VWB is definitely right in the middle between them! (And BTW, I like the black finger rest. Elegant, I say.) What's a fella to do?

What's a fella to do? Thanks. Your comments are pretty much why I chose that colour. I was debating on the phone with Jay Wolfe OSB and dark ASB, and he says to me..."I dont want to complicate things but I just ordered one for myself in a new colour VWB. Let me send you a photo of a VWB guitar from NAAM." He did, and I called him right back and ordered it as VWB. As for the finger rest, I really like the black stained wood finger rests. I understand its not everyone's cup of tea but I never much cared for the matching finger rest. I like it as is, or without any finger rest at all.

The matching ones just don't float my boat, tho many people love them. I really hope you get that instrument soon. It's thoughtful of Jay to send the photos - but it must also be a kind of torture!
JeffB Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Looks great. Im liking the pick guard/finger rest. I'd be going nuts seeing the pics but knowing the guitar is still away off from being in my hands. Cool you got the pics to keep you hanging though. I guess.
ronalr Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 That is a great color and the top is amazing...I know you will be counting down the days....but that is worth waiting for ...congratulation

Well I told him I would like to see a pic of it before it ships back. So I asked for it. To tell you the truth, I am happy I did. Now I think of it as my guitar rather than just a guitar I have on order. Kind of like how I felt after seeing my first kid's ultrasound.
Poelbaum Posted January 26, 2010 Author Posted January 26, 2010 Well, just heard from Jay Wolfe, and they are shipping my guitar to me today. Fortunately Heritage turned the issue around quickly, replaced the nut, and Jay's luthier has set it up and says its great. So while I have endured a 3 week delay, I am pleased to know that all is now well. Thanks to Jay and to Heritage for addressing it quickly. Now begins the very long 4 day wait and hopes that Canadian customs doesnt pull it for further inspection and delay.
smurph1 Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Fantastic! then you can do the Happy New Guitar Day Dance!!!
yoslate Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Poelbaum: Nicely played! That one would be IT! Just a magnificent finsh and the black pickguard accents it perfectly. Stunning piece! Congrats!
