tileman Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Has anyone else been to Rudy's amplifier showrrom in NYC?
fxdx99 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 No, but from the looks of it I'd like to. What's the 2-tone amp that resembles a late 50s Les Paul amp (front row, to the right/under the tv style amp)?

Gitfiddler Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Hey, that LP in the upper left corner of your picture looks familiar!
RJLII Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 That looks like a good place to get in a heap o' trouble. Do not enter with wallet!

What's the 2-tone amp that resembles a late 50s Les Paul amp (front row, to the right/under the tv style amp)? Hi, I live in the metro-NYC area and have been to Rudy's many times over the years. Rudy's is definitely the "class act" of the 48th street music shop scene. That being said, it has always been fairly pricey in my experience (this may have changed?). I always visited Rudy's (before the internet) to get D'Andrea picks. They where one of the few shops that always had them back in the day. The amp in question I believe is a Victoria Electro King which is a GA-40 style amp. :-) Bob http://www.victoriaamp.com/amps.html?model=electro_king
fxdx99 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Ah, thanks m7. I was squinting trying to make that logo... didn't think it fit a GA40. Nice looking, like the GA40, too, being a fan of 50s gibby amps. Was playing the Accomplish Jr combo last night (know you've an accomplish as well) marveling just HOW DANG GOOD the 150 sounded thru it. Even the wife commented 'how come you don't play that guitar more' (since I more often play a semi or tele). Didn't have an answer. It's definitely the pair going to the weekend gig.
SouthpawGuy Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Isn't that were Elliot Eastons collection is up for sale ? Pricey but nicey.
slider313 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Being an ex New Yorker, I have been to all the music shops on 48th St many times and have to agree Rudy's prices were always "over the top".

I was being polite, but I absolutely agree with you. I really only purchased picks and strings at Rudy's. Nobody else had the D'Andreas and the Thomastiks 20 years ago. :-)

They might have been hungry to make a sale before Christmas because I still think I got a good price on my custom.

tileman Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 This is what another dealer had on their site. I bought mine at Rudy's for less. Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Custom 1968 Chambered All Maple Item: GBHB051C Gibson manufactured only 30 of these beauties in 2008. This is definitely one of the most stunning Les Paul Customs ever produced by the custom shop. From the incredible carved flamed maple top with a chambered flamed maple body to the 5 piece flamed maple neck this guitar oozes first class. The maple back on this guitar looks more impressive than most Les Paul tops. This Gibson 1968 chambered Les Paul custom weighs less then 8 lbs. and comes with 2 Gibson 57 classic pickups. A flawless condition example. If you want a guitar that plays as good as it looks, here you go. List price: $6,115.99 Price: $4,399.00 You Save: $1,716.99 (28%)
