Quantum Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Hi, I've just found this site, after having a Heritage for over 20 years. The serial is F04603, so mine was manufactured on November 15th, 1989 (if I've decoded it right). In fact, I've had this guitar for more than half my life now! I love it to bits, but I don't know what model it is - I've looked through the Heritage site, and as many pics on here as I could find, but couldn't see one that looked like mine. It's got a flat top, and no binding or pick guard - I've attached a photo (hopefully I've managed to do that right!). If anyone can work out what model it is, I'd be very happy indeed. Quantum
chico Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Hey welcome Quantum, I think that's a H120. Kinda rare to see em. An early H137, a Heritage "junior" nice slab, bet it sings. corrections always welcome, chico
Quantum Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Hi Chico, Thanks for the tip on the H120 - I just had a browse of the Heritage site's "Guitars no longer in production" page, the the H120 on there does indeed look similar to mine, but with a single bridge pick-up. Would be great if mine was 'special' some how I bought it when I was a student (yes, quite a large part of my grant helped get it!) in a now-vanished music shop in Brighton, UK. I remember trying a few Fenders and Gibsons, but they were way out of my price range. Then the owner suggested I try this Heritage guitar here, and told me the story of them. When I played it, it just felt 'better' than any of the Gibsons or Fenders. I've loved it ever since, and last year actually started playing live with it in a band some of my friends have formed. I'll get some pictures of it in action if anyone is interested It's still completely original, nothing's been changed, but the machine heads aren't quite as nice as they once were, so I'm thinking of replacing them. Maybe getting some new pups as well. I'll probably be back here asking for recommendations when I've got a better idea of what I want! Quantum
tbonesullivan Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 that is one great slab of hog'. Don't ever part with it unless you really have to. I just googled the H-120 and the catalog says it was a bolt on neck model.

The joint looks glued, in that I can't see any bolts. There's no neck plate on the back. I have it on a stand in my living room - heck, I consider it art
mark555 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Welcome Quantum, I think we can safely say it's a set neck and not a bolt on - would buy that guitar off you any time, but when you see some of the guitar porn on this site you are going to want more.... much more!
smurph1 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Welcome Quantum..Nice Guitar!! It reminds me of my old slab body LP special..May you get many more..

I'm not that familiar with the earlier models though. Also, make sure if you keep it out a lot don't let it get in the sunlight. It'll help preserve the color and the finish.
Ray Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Welcome, Quantum. I guessed you were, somehow, connection to the UK seeing the radiator in your photo. I only joined recently, but I can tell you that this is a very good site. You will definitely find interesting topics here as a Heritage Guitar person. Again, welcome.
pegleg32 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Hi Quantum, I'm pretty sure you have an H-137 but with humbuckers instead of the usual single coils. It appears to be a very fine guitar. I would be proud of that one.
pegleg32 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I should add, it's a "first edition" as opposed to the newer "second edition" which has a different bridge/tailpiece. Here is a similar one on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/HERITAGE-H137-H-137-MA...=item27ae5cb951 Also, if you are ever in doubt, you can look under the plastic cover on the back of the guitar. That is where Heritage puts it's model and other information on it's solid bodies.
ronalr Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Welcome to the HOC Quantum ...that is a great looking guitar....really nice finish....does not look like a 20 year old axe
brentrocks Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Welcome Quantum! nice 137 you have there!!!
fxdx99 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Hi there Quantum - welcom to the HOC. Yes, nice example of a first edition 137. Rumor has it that Heritage is going to display a new model 137 this week at NAMM, so your model 'lives on'.
Thundersteel Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Welcome! That's a nice slab of wood you've got there!
Quantum Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 Well, thanks all for such a kind welcome Very glad that I know now which model it is, and thanks for all the compliments on it! I've been happily playing it for so long, it's not going anywhere. I'll look under the plastic cover, as pegleg32 suggests - I've had that off once before, just to see what was under it. One question though - the jack socket is getting a bit loose now, is it something I could fix myself, or best left to the professionals?
Thundersteel Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 One question though - the jack socket is getting a bit loose now, is it something I could fix myself, or best left to the professionals? That should be an easy fix. Just tighten up the nut with the proper size socket or box wrench..
