guitarplayntaylor Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 At the end of December, christmas money in hand, I went to CB Perkins in San Jose, CA and ordered an H-535 Almond Suburst, 59 Seymour in the Neck and a JB in the Bridge, I believe the neck they were gonna put on it was the diameter of a sweet sixteden. should be here towards the end of march. Getting more and more excited each day, and finally decided to post here! This will be my first guitar with humbuckers. Up until now I've been a tele, strat, and P90 guy. I've always loved the sound of les pauls and 335s, haven't had the money to get one until I got some seasonal work over christmas. Really looking forward to getting some slide guitar playing in on this guy! So anyways, just had to share with ya'll my new purchase. Now... must continue to save money to pay balance when my new child comes in. hehe
zookroo1 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Very cool! Hopefully the wait won't kill you. We'll be expecting a full report complete with pics when she arrives!
tbonesullivan Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 sounds like a winner! I have an almond sunburst 535 myself, though I have the schaller golden 50 pickups in them. You may want to be a bit careful with the JB, which is fairly high output. It could cause some feedback issues if you start cranking it. anyway, make sure to send photos when it gets in!

Good to know about the JB. although one of my goals in life is to be able to sustain a note for as long as possible, ala jack pearson of the ABB, so maybe the JB will help me achieve this. By the way, the service at CB perkins was second to none. They blew me away with how helpful they were and being able to customize it to my playing style.
FredZepp Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Nice choices all the way around.. finish , pick-ups , neck ... it should be a rocker..! (or many other styles if you want ) Welcome to the HOC.. and yeah , we love pics when a new one arrives..
tulk1 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Congrats on ordering the 535. ALSB is a very good color for that guitar. Cool thing about Heritage guitars - you can customize that baby nearly anyway you want. And if you don't step outside the normal specs (woods, normal pickups, normal hardware, etc.) it won't cost you anymore than off the shelf. And! you'll have it like you want it. Might as well start saving now for the next one.
tbonesullivan Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 ALSB has to be one of my favorite colors on ANY guitar, but with the 535s, yes it looks particularly good:
guitarplayntaylor Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Damn that's nice. I personally prefer a black pick guard over the sunburst one... but hey it's all just taste. Gorgeous guitar!
smurph1 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 ALSB has to be one of my favorite colors on ANY guitar, but with the 535s, yes it looks particularly good: Congrats on the new "Baby" If it looks anything liked this one you should be very happy..
fxdx99 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Congrats on the 535 - very nice selections to deck it out with. Mine's a favorite guitar - love the semis. Let us see some pics when you do get it.

guitarplayntaylor Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Interesting to see the differences between the lighter and darker almond burst finishes. I'll be happy with either one!

And , of course, the lighting can make a big difference...especially with the flame tops... There is no doubt , it will be beautiful.
