brentrocks Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 YES! The Blue H 150 arrived today....with a little surprise....its a #2! I think it was #2ed for a nitro crack on the back of the body....that is the most obvious thing i can see. I immediately called the seller...he said he didnt see the 2 on the headstock, (which ill give him the benifit of a doubt, because it is pretty faint) After i explained to him how Heritage puts the 2 there to signify that its a factory second, with a lil prodding, i got a lil kickback. I didnt really want to send it back because i love the color and top and the overall feel. It is a 1 piece body, nice flame and good color. The neck is the typical Heritage carve, Med C. It has 59s in it. It hasnt been played very much, the frets are like new. The neck pitch is perfect, nice low action and lightweight...about 8.5 lbs. The dude shipped it in a beatup Epi Elietest case...oh well. Its a 2004 and it has a couple bumps, nothing terrible though. It is a lot brighter sounding than the Green Giant. So i proceeded to strip the guitar down, cleaned and lemon oiled the fretboard, polished the guitar, tightened up the tuners (they were all LOOSE!!) Replaced the cracked neck pup ring and then restrung it wraptail style like the Green Giant w/ a fresh set of 10s. I started the bridge high and when i got the strings stretched, i was amazed at how low i was able to lower it. It sounds great, plays great....im very pleased!!! pre cleaning.... After cleaning... Without flash....
FredZepp Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Another nice one... The blue really changes with the flash, it looked much different than the sale pics . Green... Blue... now you need a ... Yellow one !!!
fxdx99 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 No, a Red One now!! Congrats, Brent - I like Heritage blue. That one must feel feather-weight compared to GrGiant!
yoslate Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Pretty one, Brent! You're back in business, aren't you?! I'm still waiting for the "headliner," though!
FredZepp Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 It must be great to have 2 great new axes to play with. And yeah, very different weights ... 8.5 lbs vs 11.5 lbs ,,,, wow. And now to play 'em.
EdPero Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Congratulations ! It's a beautiful guitar and the color is very classy. Don't worry about the #2... sometimes the #1 is a prototype with a lot of errors on it. This baby looks great ! I wish you to spend some good time with it !
212Mavguy Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Yow! Way to go! It's fun to take a guitar from first opening up the package and doing the due diligence to make it really yours. Although it's tedious, sometimes exasperating, it is also enjoyable to carefully set up an instrument to play the way you like the best...again, way to go!

Hey!Brentrocks thats a beautiful axe. I visited the Heritage factory today and ordered me a lefty H550. I got some pics I'd like to share them. What page can I place them on? pre cleaning.... After cleaning... Without flash....
SouthpawGuy Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 D@mn right you've got the blues ! Congrats on NGD#2
pegleg32 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 You've made another fine purchase there Brent. Also nice the guy made a kick back on the #2. You are probably into these 2 guitars for less than any you have ever owned. Good reason to keep them!!
Mikenov Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Congrats Brent! Love them blue guitar!! That would go nice with my 555. Lets me know when you get sick of this one buddy.
TalismanRich Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Pretty cool that you can have a 150 at 8.5 lbs without it being chambered. Even better when you can get a good deal like that. I'm almost kicking myself for not trying for that Milli last weekend! Interesting comment that this one is brighter sounding. Is it the pickups or the wood? What pups does the Green Giant have? 'grats!
brentrocks Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 Interesting comment that this one is brighter sounding. Is it the pickups or the wood? What pups does the Green Giant have? 'grats! thanks Rich i tend to think its the wood....because the GG has Bill Lawrence pups and they, i have been told, tend to be a lil trebbly.....so think its the pure bulk/density/weight of the GG and the lack of in the Blue OX that makes the difference the Blue Ox has SD 59s
Kuz Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 WOW, Brent I don't know which one I like better!!!! Another great snag, and now you have half the number of 150s as me.... you are catching up quick!!!
ronalr Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I love the green giant... but that blue.....well that is just a great color on that model...very very nice...congratulations Brent on another great score.....and I can't see the #2 ...where is it?
tulk1 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Brently, congrats on the guitar. You know I'm not a fan of the colored guitars. But I kinda like that "less than saturated blue" look. Are you sure that's a one piece top? I could swear I see a seam. You going to get your buddy (can't remember his name) to fix the nitro?
squawken Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Congrats Brent! I actually like the color on the back and neck-unique.
chico Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 nice snag Brent, tasty blue H150CM.. mmm mmmm mmmm
Steiner Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Wow! If you and Big Bob get together this summer for a couple Jimmy Buffet tunes everyone will believe you've been at it for years. That Bahama Burst coupled with the Azure Blue. Something tells me the PSPIII shirts will be tie dyed. will there be a Tiki bar? I'm a fond follower of all that is blue. As such, I Love that guitar! Happy NGD!!!
conorb Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Congrats Brent. It's good to see you rebounding after the recent sell-off. Love the blue. Not a fan of the black knobs, but hey - it's your guitar. I also can't wait to see your recent custom order come to light. conorb

Thanks Kenny! i meant to say 1 piece back Pete could prob sand/buff/re-shoot the back....but its not an issue to me right now. its funny though...the Blue OX is a 1 piece body and it is light....the Green Giant is a 2 piece body and its an anchor. I guess its all in the tree?
skydog52 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Brent you have been busy. I've always loved the Trans Blue Heritage does. Have fun with that one. We need more video tone reports from you.
tbonesullivan Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Ahh.. someone is a prisoner of H150 GAS! That's a nice color... looks kinda like a new one that Wolfe has up, except that is more "ocean blue" with a pearloid pickguard.
