Mikenov Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I like the stingers as well. It's like a racing stripe. Nice guitars. Your son has good taste!
Thundersteel Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 picking up my new 575 custom this afternoon. I've been drooling over that one for quite awhile--nice catch!
tsp17 Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 i left work to pick up my new axe on the way home. forgot my wallet! they close at 5 so i was not able to get back in time. while i was there waiting to pay (before i realized that i had no wallet) i picked up a used benedetto benny for about the same money. i had a/b'd them before and it was a close call. really liked it. started thinking...i already have a 575 and the Benny is really exceptional. carved spruce top with a chambered mahogany body, bendetto A-6 pickups... quite a dilemma. i'll give it some thought over the weekend. comments welcome.
tsp17 Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Get 'em both? it has crossed my mind. i am trying to thin the heard a bit. went into the shop with two trade-ins intending to come out with one new guitar. makes my wife happy and i get a new friend.
hiro Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 See if Old Time has the layaway thing that Buffalo's does . . . that way you could walk home with the Heritage, put Benny on layaway so no one else with a taste as good as yours snatches up. I did fast google search and new Benny's go for 7-10K !!!!! If there is something in my gut I really know I should get, I've decided to listen to that . . . several times I have had opportunities to get something I really liked, but figured I could get it later . . . and then its too late, or I can get it but its several hundred dollars or thousands more than when I originally saw it . . .
eor Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 buffalo bros does layway? this is the worst news my wallet has ever heard. how does it work? i once drove the 100 miles out there to check out a 575 for $1600, only to find that the truss rod had been maxed out, or whatever. tears were shed. had a great old time messing around with the various hollowbodies there (gretsches, an old epi and some pretty hofners) but they all howled like crazy plugged in not matter what i did or where i sat. so i was scared off and didn't buy anything. i later realized that it was the amp's fault (18 watt jaguar) because i haven't had that with any of my other amps here at home. :/ killer amp, though. and playing all the 150s, 575s and 535s was worth the trip. they sounded much nicer than the "name" brand counterparts that were right next to them. seeing the matched set in person was something. cant believe they are still there. is that lp really wine red? looks way too red and not wine enough for me.
tsp17 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 after exchanging emails with Bob Benedetto and some soul searching i ended up with the Bendetto. i'll post pics this weekend. it is very cool. the guys at Old Town are terrific.
