Sometime later this week I should be receiving John Covachs black Millie DC. I'm hoping this fills my niche for a smaller sized semi hollow.

I have a feeling that the wait is going to male for a very long week! :P

By the Johns a great guy to deal with!

No bigsby on this one. What kind of PU's do you have in yours? This one has the HRWs, I cant wait to hear what all the hype is about.

If I can get the time I'd love to check out that heritage of yours.....

Congrats on the new guitar.

I almost talked myself into buying this guitar before christmas, but then my darn car broke down and needed a major repair and so I had to choose between the guitar, or fixing the car. I tried to explain to my wife how buying the guitar, and not fixing the car would just mean that I couldn't drive to work, and so obviously then I'd have much more time to actually play the guitar, and hence it would be a real bargain. Somehow she couldn't manage to keep up with my logic at all though, and I had to pay to fix the car. She still bought herself a new set of blue pumps though!!

Congrats CJ. Play it in good health

I could see you with a 535 too for some reason.

Yes, for some reason I could see myself playing a 535. Feel like donating one to a guitar player who recently spent all his money? :cray_mini2:

Mine has HRWs.

Played it for a couple hours last night, she was howlin..

So, you like the sound of HRWs on an H-535? I've been considering one.

Ha ha! I am going to have to check with my accountant on the tax benefits of that plan.. I will get back to you!

I was referring to the HRWs on my Millie DC. Don't own a H535 yet, though the HRWs sound good on em. The H555 comes standard w/HRWs.

Both my Millies have HRWs, I have a DC in Old style burst and a H155 in Transred (silver! hardware) and HRWs also.

Thanks for the kind words, fellas. It was hard to see the ol' Millie DC go, but I have to keep the number of Heritages at 10 or below. If there's any positive side to selling a Heritage, it's knowing that the buyer is getting a first-rate guitar. That Millie DC sounds great and plays like butter.

It arrives tomorrow. We want a full report, CJ!!

It showed up this afternoon. It's currently thawing out. Later this evening I should be able to open the case.

Looks like it shipped OK. no major crushing, dents or dings.

Cant wait to see it but it's been in the cold temps for the last few days so I have to let it warm up.

Well I've had a chance to play the DC at rehearsal and a open jamm tonight. All I can say is Wow! Nice action, great tone , comfortable and damn sweet looking! It's just what I was looking for. It sounds like a 335 (or 535 as the case may be) but with a little tighter low end and little more bite on the high end. Great response between the guitar and the amp. It sounds great clean or with some distortion. It handles gain a lot better than I thought it would. Both through a 808 tube screamer and the drive on the amp. The HRWs didn't like the compressor much, I got some squealing when I used it. But with the versatility of this guitar I can see not having to use it.

I will have to have the nut replaced. By looking at it I'd have to say someone was messing with it. For the short time I've played this axe I can say that I''m once again been impressed with Heritage guitars.

I'd like to thank John for answering all my questions and sending some sound clips. If anyone gets a chance check out his YES tribute band. It's impressive to hear someone cover a group like that.

Picks to follow..........
