535 or 575 ?

Hello! I'm new in this forum.

I play guitar from less than one year, so I am not an expert musician.

I'm going to buy a Heritage, so I'll be a "owner" very soon ...

I cannot decide between the 535 and the 575 model,

so I would like to know if there's any comparison and

what are the differences (size, versatility, equioment, etc..).

My favourite artist is eric clapton and I like the blues genre,

but I would like not to be too much limited.

Can you help me?

Thank you

Hi and welcome to the HOC.

My 02c .... I have both models, and each is fitted with Duncan 59s'

The 535 is more versatile, especially if you are going to get into rock or blues. The 575 is great for low gain blues and rock'n'roll and obviously excellent for jazz, it has a great warm tone. Also being fully hollow it will tend to feed back more when overdriven and when it does it will howl ! The 535 with the solid centre block and thinner body is more feedback resistant, it will feedback in high gain situations, however I find that the feedback is controllable, especially if you can find the sweet spot where it starts to blow air out of the holes and it starts to sing.

As I say, my 2c, I'm sure others will chime in.

Obligatory gratuitous pics ...

Southpaw Guy is right in his description of what each guitar will offer, I own a 555 and on occasions when I visit my friend Who has a 575 I enjoy getting to play that, both are great guitars.

By the way, a very friendly hello and welcome to the forum, glad to know that you have found Heritage Guitars so early in your playing. But to answer your question as to which one of the two should you get, from what you have told us, I would definitely get the 535 as I think this guitar will be more versatile for you and you will be able to play more genres of music. Southpaw may have inadvertently given you the impression that the 535 will feedback more than it does, but I stress that I am not being critical of him here. I have used my 555, which is the same guitar in many ways, for playing rock and blues at volume and yes it dies feed back somewhat, but not enough to bother be. I think the 575 might be one for you to get later on, it is a great guitar. But for now, without doubt go for the 535, you will love it.

Now the next question... which pick ups are you going to put on it....!

By the way, you don't have to be a great player to appreciate great guitars.... I am proof of that!

DM,

Let me add my welcome. Glad you found us. Don't be shy, just jump right in. Ask questions. Post replies.

And, let me add my vote for the 535, if a semi is what you are after. But!! Let me put a plug in for the Prospect, if you are thinking semi-hollow. It's a slightly smaller body than the 535. Can handle everything it does. Has a floating center block. And for me, gets into pushing the air a bit faster than the 535s.

And then there's the Millenniums (Millie's). Semi-solid as opposed to semi-hollow. Nearly the same, but not. More of an LP-ish size, yet has all the balls of a semi and a solid body. Both the Prospect and the Millie are great semi-style guitars. Unless you just happen to want a large bodied guitar. :cray_mini2:

Obligatory pic of a Prospect Standard.

This is my custom Millie DC NFH, without F-holes. Posting to show you the body size.

If you like Clapton, you need to play on any Heritage guitar that has a solid body (140 or 150, LP like or a Millenium) or a semi hollow with PAF (H-535, H-555 or a Prophecy) but nothing with P-90 and/or a hollow body (575) which is more dedicated to jazz or soft blues.

I recommand you a guitar with ebony fingerboard like a 157, 155, 555 or Millenium ultra STD because Heritage guitars are great but never expensive so you can buy a luxious one and save more than 2000 $ compared to a Gibbon model.

Welcome to the HOC.....I agree with everything SouthpawGuy said.....I also have both models and I use the 575 for jazz...chord melody stuff mostly...I think the 535 would be your choice for blues and classic rock...good luck with your hunt!!!!

Hi Drunkenmaster!! Welcome to the cult..(I mean club)..Whatever Heritage model you choose I guarantee it won't be your last!! Enjoy!

Larry Carlton does it all (rock, blues, jazz, country) on his 335, so go for the 535.

BUT the 575 is a great jazz axe!

Welcome to the Club. If you're trying to decide between two Heritage models, you are in a great dilemma, as it's a win-win situation. Since Clapton is your favorite artist, the quick answer (I hate to say it) would be to go out and pick up a Fender Stratocaster, if you don't already have one, since that's been his axe of choice for many years. However, if you look back to his time in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers when he played an LP-type guitar, a Heritage H-150 would give you that sound. But from the either-or choice you've listed, like others here, I would select the H-535, because this type is just so versatile that you could never outgrow it, no matter what kind of music you want to play. Especially in the realm of blues, the H-535 will really deliver. Of course, you can always pick up an H-575 down the road.

Welcome!

I went through the same decision making process and ended up with a very nice 535. Southpaw's and Kuz's comments are spot on.

I think I made the right decision, but now I want a 575 too!

welcome. sounds like a good call for you. being more of a jazz fan (and wannabe player) i traded my 535 for a 575M, but i agree with the others, for what you are looking for the 535 or prospect is a great way to go. congratulations. you'll like it very much. great guitar.

Hello!

Thank you very much for your help; I am now convinced for the 535

I'll post the photo as soon as I get.

thanks again

I love the 535, but I'll second what Tulk said. The Millenium is an outstanding guitar. It's a carved top instead of the laminate, a smaller body, and just seems to love the blues!

Best advice I can give... buy one, and immediately set the piggybank back out and start saving for the other!

i forgot- yes the millie would also be a great choice. personally i love solid carved vs. laminate (others feel that laminate is better - personal preference).

Nice 535!

There's a beauty! Congratulations, Andrea - that 535 looks exactly like the first Heritage I ever saw and the one that drew me to these guitars in the first place. Like the matching pickguard.

Wow, what a beautiful guitar to work with. Have fun !

I like your name "DrunkenMaster" as well, DM! Very catchy!

Nice! Congratulations!! I have a 575 and was getting ready to recommend a 535 for you since you mentioned being more into blues/rock . . . though I VERY happily use my 575 for that too! The 535 will be more what you're looking for I think . . . and the one you scored is gorgeous! Welcome to the forum and the HOC!! Jump right in!
