Hi!!!

I finally took some pics of my H-150.

The guitar is from 1993 and in perfect condition. It's an all original.

I was really lucky to find such a nice one in Germany.

It's very hard to find used heritages in Europe.

First I was disappointed, because the owner didn't have the original case anymore.

But when I saw that it arrived in a Gibson protector case, which is in really excellent condition,

I couldn't resist to smile.

So enjoy the pics!

You'll find the questions I have attached to the according pics.

So here's the first question: is the wiring channel going into the neck normal?

Here's a closer look! You can clearly see the whole in the neck. I have never seen anything like this before.

Here's a pic of one of the mounting rings holding the tailpiece. The wood doesn't really look nice around it.

MAH - Yes...see this one in the gallery

MAH - They simple bore from the top of the body before the neck is set to provide a pickup wiring channel towards the bridge cavity

MAH - Can't really tell from the pic if that done during manufacturing or chipped away by careful effort to insert the plug

The mounting hole splinter could be Heritage or someone inserting new mounts. Wood could splinter when an old mount was being removed. It will also splinter at the exit hole in the direction the bit was drilling (i.e. out of the body). Heritage would drill into the body, not out.

I bought the guitar from a guitar store in Germany. The store is very reliable. The owner bought it 1993 from the same store

and all setup and repair work was done by this store. They assured me that they didn't change anything and that the guitar is 100 percent original.

The other mounting hole looks the same. You can't see it with the Schaller tailpiece attached.

But with a Gibson lookalike tailpiece I think you might see the splintered wood.

Possibly.

I get better sustain by having the tailpiece as low to the body as it will go without touching the wood.

Hey Guido,

That is a nice one. The top is subtle and sweet with some nice flaming.

I wouldn't worry about either question that you raised. They won't have any effect on the guitar, and I think that the wood around the studs won't be noticed. I seem to remember a Gibby that I had that was like that.

Congrats... you should be really pleased with that find. Give us a tone report sometime.

I agree.. very nice subtle flame..Enjoy Guido!!

Nothing to worry about Guido, great looking guitar and terrific case. My strat is not in its original case, that got worn out and damaged years ago. Just enjoy playing it. Also, some times genuine road worn flaws add a touch of character to a guitar if it's not over the top.

I'm trying real hard to increase the number of posts I write. There are 4-5 here, but it's early and I stayed up late ;P

Jealous of those guys with 3000 plus posts?

Hi Guido,

congrats. You've got a really nice piece of wood. The flame looks great.

Which pickups are built in ?

It's very important to have the guitar setup very well, like mars_hall wrote. That might give you another 10 % of sound.

If you like, It could name you a guy (not a shop), who is very good in guitar setup and he's not expensive. He lives not to far away from Cologne.

If you would like to contact him, let me know.

Again, congrats and "Hello" to Cologne

Hi Guido,

I noticed you have a rollers bridge on your guitar. This is a sustain killer. Depending on which music you intend to play, you should think about a change of the Schaller tailpiece, because it's ugly and heavy :D and the bridge. I would ignore the hole. I changed the Schaller stuff on two of my Heritages and it really payed. A Nashville type tailpiece looks much better and provides more sustain (if it's from aluminium).

Cheers

Hi Wolfi!

Nice to hear from you again.

The guitar is fitted with two Duncan 59's. The bridge sounds very well, the neck is a little bit too dark.

I am going to replace the pickups with Tom Short's Tombuckers.

I already ordered a Faber Vintage ABR Bridge. I am not so sure about the Tailpiece. Actually I like the look of it.

But maybe I will change it in the future for a Faber Tailpiece as well.

Of course I am interested in the guy, who can setup guitars so well. Let me know!

Greetings to Düsseldorf

Hi Guido,

I'll send you the details of the guitar guy via pm.

The Faber bridge is great. That's the one I purchased for my H 535. If you like the look of the tailpiece, don't change it. A Nashville type tailpiece won't give you that much extra sound. Of course a little bit, but for me the look was the main issue.

I had 59s in my H 150 and I liked them pretty much. But I made myself a xmas present and purchased Amber pickups for the H 150. And this really payed. But they are expensive.

Cheers
