TonePros VS Schaller

Well I gave in to many peoples recomendations to try the Tonepros Bridge and Stoptail piece, and get the tone and sustain my Prospect Custom is capable of (and supposedly being sucked up by the Schallers equipment). I Purchased the Ultimate Gold Plated Aluminum Stoptail and the Unslotted ABR1 Bridge.

Wow, What a dissapointmend! The change seriously suck out the tone and dropped the acoustic volume considerably. Its no wonder that Tonepros has its locking set screws, it has to have them because the machining is so sloppy. The Scallers were much better tollerance and tone/sustain. (even with the roller bridge (though not needed since its non-Bigsby) I'm sure it varries from one guitar to another. Thankfully its reversable (which I've already done) Putting on Seth Lovers with the Duncan Triple Shot switching tonite. MMMMM can't wait!

I have no problems with the roller bridge myself. And the only reason that I'm considering changing the tailpiece on 2 of them is entirely appearance.

That is a serious car bumper of a tailpiece on a 150, but it also that it's not what I'm used to seeing.

On the 140 , the Schaller hardware is just fine.

Wow, I can honestly say that I have had the opposite experience. I love the Tonepros Nashville hardware (with Aluminum bridge) and gained the added sustain as promised.

Be in the end that is why tone is so subjective.

Hope you get what you are looking for when you switch her back.

No question the TP gear works for some folks. But I have it on my 150 and Roy Clark with no audible improvement. Maybe it's my ears. I LIKE it, especially when I change strings, but honestly the Schaller stuff wouldn't move if I wacked it with a rubber mallet, so...

to each their own. I've still gotta get the schaller hardware put back on my H-535. I just haven't been playing it enough to require a string change, something I should change tonite.

I like the Tone Pro stuff 99% b/c I buy the locking light weight stuff. It makes my setups last longer and it did lighten the sound a bit. Sustain, I didn't notice anything with that. The bone nut made the biggest difference. HUGE difference as a matter of fact. Every guitar I have installed a bone nut on has had noticeable effect on the vibrations of the neck. I could FEEL it sustain in the neck of the guitar. actually vibrate. That being said, I dig the tone pro stuff b/c it locks the tail piece and bridge in place so string changes can't screw up my action or set up.

Hmmm... Guess who makes the TonePros bridges and tail pieces? Schaller. Did you get the right version? They make both metric and standard size bridges. Tight tollerances on mine. Oh well, to each there own but the Schaller roller bridge just didn't do it for me. Both functionally and cosmetically.

Funnily enough, I haven't a clue what brand I replaced all the schaller stuff on my 335 with, but it looks and sounds much better.. I left it up to the tech to decide, the end result was fine by me.
