tulk1 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Thats quite the way to step into Heritage guitars. Congrats on such a beauty. And welcome to the club.
brentrocks Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Very nice!! Welcome to the club!!! who did you order it through?
Steiner Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Touche! Another fine beauty joins the fold; Welcome! How did you land on this make / model? How does she differ from where you were (guitar-wise)?
golferwave Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 That's beautiful!! Only 8 1/4 pounds? That's a keeper for sure!!
sbtills Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks for the nice comments. It's been a great new guitar day! I have a Fender USA strat that I pulled out last year and started playing again when my son started playing. We got him a used 157 for Christmas, and after playing it, I had to have one. I also picked up a '63 Byrdland last year as a collectable that I bring out on special occasions. Before that I was mainly playing acoustic, including a '67 Gibby flattop that my father bought from Rem Wall. Here is a photo of our Parson's street beauties.

Nice group photo and the story about the gibby bought from Ren is cool also. All three are excellent. I do like the '63 ....
pegleg32 Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Great guitar, and interesting provenance on your flattop. Was your dad a friend of Ren's?
sbtills Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks! It was Ren's father Rem Wall, and we lived near him. Also my father worked with Jim the fiddle player on the Green Valley Jamboree which was a popular local (Kalamazoo) TV show on Saturday nights, on which Rem was the band leader and host.
tbonesullivan Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Wow! I guess that silverburst really "stayed in the family". Glad to have you around! Just one warning: this place enables guitar acquisition syndrome. You WILL have urges to constantly check ebay for Heritage guitars, and will be constantly looking for used heritages at Wolfe Guitars and craigslist. Anyway, that's a great guitar. The lightweight thing is great too. My H150CM weighs around 11 lbs! 00f!
High Flying Bird Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Damn! That's one beauty. Where have I seen the silverburst before?

My son loves the Silverburst, but I've renamed in "Silverbeast", as it may have your 150 beat by a half pound-or-so!
ronalr Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 That is a great color...beautiful guitar ....congratulations and welcome to the HOC!!!

YIKES! sounds like one of those new les paul raw power guitars that weigh in at like 12 lbs standard. I used to have a Carvin CM130CE, an all-maple les paul clone. Thing was a BEAST but it sustained for light years. Also with that thick poly finish it was safe against everything, and if a fan ever stormed the stage I'd be well defended with that all-maple boat anchor.
mark555 Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Hi and welcome from England, three scorching guitars there, I have only ever known one guy who had a byrdland, very beautiful and delicate guitar. Is the 'Silverbeast' he one we have seen recently posted within the last few days, or is it a second one? Great story about you knowing Rem Wall, great folk lore in there. Has your son joined us?
