My son loves the Silverburst, but I've renamed in "Silverbeast", as it may have your 150 beat by a half pound-or-so!

that was a heavy Heritage...but sounded very good!

Beautiful looking guitars. Welcome to the club and thank you for your wonderful story.... Nice to see father and son sharing the same hobby - I think that is fantastic.

Thanks again for the welcome and nice comments. Day 2 was just as nice. I'm starting to get used to the feel (coming from Strat), and the actiion is low and fast and feeling as nice as any guitar I've played.

Wow, I am hooked!

I never tire of hearing comments like this from a new Heritage owner...

It makes me smile for some reason... :icon_cat:

"Dad can I borrow your guitar?"

"Sure! As long as I can use yours!"

Now THAT is a father/ son converstaion that you wouldn't hear too often,

and know that both people are going to be totally happy!!!!

Congrats on the family that can be said to truly keeping it in the family!

History in the background on the stories too!

Enjoy!

Love that post!

We have done a bit of switching guitars, but have definitely settled into our own. He likes his SD Jazz neck pickup (awesome tone) the best and I've been loving the HRW pickups (it took some amp adjusting, as they are hot!), and am now using the neck pickup with the coil tap engaged to get a nice Stevie Ray tone. Just wish I could play like him. (But I'll have a lot of fun practicing!). Every day the guitar has gotten more enjoyable as I've grown used to it. It is very easy to play and I love the weight.

Thanks for all the nice comments.

My son and I always lend each other our guitars, right from him being about fifteen when he started to play. He always looked after mine and when he got decent guitars of his own he would always be happy to let me use his, it's great and is just part of our relationship. He's never brought one ounce of trouble home and guitars are just one of the enjoyments in life we share. Hope I don't sound 'too perfect' here, nothing worse than that....

The new Heritage is just stunning. I have a natural inclination towards red hued guitars and that just sucked me right in. Sensational.

I just picked this up today, and after 3 hours of fun (and slightly ringing ears!) I thought I would show it off.

H-157 Ultra LW

Translucent wine red

HRW pickups with coil taps.

8 lbs, 4 oz.

That one is a real stunner ! Congrats and enjoy !

How do you activate the coil tap feature?

Thanks! It was Ren's father Rem Wall, and we lived near him. Also my father worked with Jim the fiddle player on the Green Valley Jamboree which was a popular local (Kalamazoo) TV show on Saturday nights, on which Rem was the band leader and host.

Growing up in SW Mich in the 50s and 60s meant watching the GVJ every week on WKZO TV. There are some nice photos out there on the web of the GVJ players, google GVJ and Rem Wall and you will see what I mean. It'll bring back some great memories.

There are also some cool youtube clips of Rem and a YOUNG Rendall playing with them at a nursing home, or such. Search for them, you will like them. In one clip, the elder Rem makes a comment about Ren being able to play "backwards", at which point Ren turns his back to the audience...very funny schick.

Every time I see Rendall at the plant I remind him of how much I enjoyed his dad on TV.

Nice wine red H157, as for the silverburst, well, there's a guy here on the HOC who has a hankerin for silverbursts...LOL

Welcome.

I don't want to break etiquette on the HOC by keeping my guitar new for too long, or by self-promotion, BUT my 13 year old son was getting ready to make another You Tube video and he wanted to use the new 157. I got the biggest charge out of it, but I am also depressed that he will be teaching me very soon!

I thought it might be a nice way to show off the guitar, while he's showing off to his buddies.

Its nice to see the kid is learning his chops. Too many think that playing guitar means firing up Guitar Hero on the Xbox!

After about 20 years of not playing, my son thought about taking up guitar. That got me to pull out my old Guild electric, and I picked up a Washburn strat for him to play around with. Unfortunately, he never took to playing. But my Washburn dealer had these nice "Heritage" guitars. Next thing I knew, there was a 157 on order. That was 7 years and 9 guitars (3 Heritages) ago!

Enjoy that lovely 157!

Thanks! He didn't wan't to put it on at first because he thought he made too many mistakes. I told him that I would hold him to that standard on his next test at school!

It's great for his confidence, and a great way for us to bond. Also a great way for me to show off this guitar!

Way back when I used to play that... I specialized in the feedback parts. I could make my guitar howl and scream.

It quite an achievement to take the time to learn all of the different sections in that... Kudos..

Thanks,

Next time I'll let him try the Byrdland! The strings on it right now are just a little too heavy for the bends. He needs to earn that anyway!
