Greetings to all,

It looks like I'll be rejoining the workforce pretty soon, and there's no better way to celebrate than with a new guitar. I'm thinking about a special order Flametop H-150 with soapbar P-90s. I was thinking something like what's shown below but with Black soapbars and a bound rosewood pickguard that will match the fingerboard. How about posting your P-90 equipped guitars and give a brother a few more ideas?

Hey you asked for pics of guitars with p-90s, just happy to accommodate. :P

Great news on getting back to work, I am also out of work so I can understand how good it is for you to get back on your feet. I like the guitar in the picture as it is, it is a beautiful looking instrument. Alas I no longer have a guitar with P90's on it, I sold it to pay for my 555.

Please pay no attention to the ugly guy holding it!

Are you sure you want to add a pickguard, and cover up that pretty wood?

Is that from JHale's site? That is probably one of the most stunning H150s I've ever seen. And I had one of the best H157s!! Black soapbars might be cool. But I wouldn't put a finger rest on it. Nope! No sir. Not if it looked like that. I would, however, order that finger rest unmounted. And put it in the case candy drawer. Just in case ........ :P

That is a great looking guitar. Reminds me of Yoslate's.

The only thing I'd change on that is to dump the tuna-magic and go wraptail or bail. Very tasty; noyce!

The photo came off Gbase. It's credited to the "Bass Exchange".

I'll order the choice wood package for the top and request that the burst be more faded so I can see the flame almost all the way to the edge like on your Milli. I really like the vibe of the black pickups, and I've always liked a dark Pickguard/Finger Rest too. I saw a bound rosewood version on a dark sunburst years ago and it really caught my eye. It had thin cream binding just like the fingerboard. It added a bit of class, but not all out bling like you see on an H-157. I may take it unmounted.

For me it's more a feel thing. I like the look of "no pickguard" but my right hand doesn't care for it. Plus I dig kind of deep when I pick and can get a little ham fisted. I'd rather tear up a pickguard than the top.

You know, if they would match up that finger rest for your custom 150 like they did for my custom Prospect, it just might be uber cool, at that. And that idea of the single binding on the fr sounds kinda cool, too, now that I've taken time to read your description of it :P .

Black soaps would look great but vanish into the top some... so a matching pickguard with binding would look great (to me) I would go for a stoptail for the snap.

Where's my darn drool cup? :P

Hmm, no P-90's here at the moment... but I have been in talks with MJS pickups for a custom set and thinking about going with a P-90 style single coil disguised as a humbucker in the neck on my H535 (The Big Single Retro, as they call it) - keeping a humbucker in the bridge

I've always been a big fan of the P-90 sound as well as the soap bar look - when I can swing it I'd really like to add a 150 w/ soap bars to my collection

Oh by the way I'd go with the white soapbars..they contrast with the finish beautifully.. My 2 cents.. :D

I bought my H150 from Bass Exchange when I still lived in California. Dealt with a cool guy named Phil. Great store.

well, if its one of those "teardrop" style bursts, there isn't really much being covered up:

yes I needed another excuse to post that picture.

p-90's are the shiznit. My main issue how is that my P90 guitar has a pretty thin neck, which has caused some issues. it's a 93 hamer, but the neck on my p-90 special is much thinner feeling than the neck on my 93 studio.

yeah a H150 P90 is on my list, after the Millie DC and custom h150 Slash based model.

Here are a couple that I had built. they both have thicker necks, the gold top is Guitar Reranch paint, not the standard Heritage gold top, (I don't suggest that as it was in spray cans and it caused a lot of extra work for the finish guys) Ultra top on the faded cherry sunburst ( we call this faded only because they wipe some of the cherry stain back off to make the cherry not look as bright) These both have inlaid logo without putting binding on the headstock, Heritage would never do this before but Marv finally figured out how to do this and these were the first 2 guitars to have that done. I applied the toggle switch rings, indicators and cream jack plates instead of black. By raising up the Lollar P-90's pretty close to the strings these guitars sound almost identical to my '55 Gold Top. Both of these guitars have sold and so are not available. Remember if you want a light weight you may consider ordering a chambered one, the mahogany is pretty heavy that they have in stock right now. When these were built they hadn't figured how to chamber this model but they have it worked out now. I worked for a long time to get them to build this model guitar and I had Jason Lollar send Heritage a set of P-90's to try them out because I wanted them used them on the P-90 guitars ordered for my shop only as an exclusive. Ren tried them out and said these pickups are amazing, we want to use them in all of our P-90 guitars, not just your orders. While that wasn't what I was originally planning it has been a great decision on Heritage' part to put out a guitar with the best possible pickups of it's type available. GO HERITAGE!!!

thanks,

Dennis

Nice ones, Dennis! I remember when the goldtop was for sale. I used to have a real '52, which I miss! Thought long and hard about your goldtop. The color is really vintage, and the inlaid headstock is always a nice touch. Glad you moved it, and I hope it found a good home. Actually glad I didn't pull the trigger on it, though, as I've recently bought a Twentieth Anniversary VSB that is everything I've ever wanted in a 150.
