Pickup Selector Switch

Hello HOC Members!

I have a 1993 H-150.

I am in the process of changing pickups (see post: Modifications to my H-150).

When I threw the old pickups out I accidentally hit one of the wires (green one) coming

from the pickups selector switch with the soldering iron! Great job!!! :smile_mini2:

I don't know if the wire still works or not. It takes a while till I put the knew pickups in.

I first wanna clean and polish my beauty with Virtuoso!

So in the case the wire doesn't work anymore, which would be the correct pickup selector

switch for replacement?

Thanks

Guido

I just noticed that every replacement switch comes without wires.

So what kind of wire do I need to replace the burned green one?

18-20 gauge shielded. as long as the wire is not broken you could use electric tape to shield it.

not hard to swap out the wire though.

I bet if you went to your local music store and asked nice they would give you some wire.

If you have a multi-meter, or can borrow one from somewhere you can figure out if the wire still works. There's also the old battery, some wires and a flashlight lightbulb trick that can check to confirm that the wire is still conducting current. If it is, you can just wrap it in electrical insulation tape and you'll be good to go. The guitar side of the electrical circuit is low voltage and low current, so as long as you can make sure it doesn't short, you'll be in shape.

Good luck,

How would I notice if the wire won't work anymore?

The green wire goes from the pickup selector switch to

the pot of the neck pickup. It is directly connected with the

top of the pot, like a single braided pickup wire.

again,

post a pic!

like you write it is ok - that's just ground!

if a wire doesn't work you'll find out with a multimeter.

if you can't do it go to your store or rewire it all with

braided wires.

you won't regret!

OK! Thanks.

I think too that it's only ground due to the fact that

it's directly soldered on top of the pot.
