Lack of dealers in your area? I can help!

In the Washington DC area, we have Classic Axe and Foxes Music, both in Northern Virginia.

Foxes Music is centrally located in Falls Church and had a great selection of Heritages the last time I checked. The guitar guy there loves Heritage and has really made a commitment. Their problem is visibility in an area dominated by Guitar Center and Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center. I believe Chuck's used to be a Heritage dealer but dropped them years ago for some reason.

Classic Axe used to carry more Heritages than they do now, since they moved from Centreville to Gainesville, which is in the far outer suburbs of Washington. In fact, it's so far away that I never go there anymore. Their website indicates they have a few Heritages in stock at the moment, but since the move the store seems to have shifted away from boutique gear to more of the typical suburban store that sells lots of low-end stuff to beginners and parents etc.

I don't know of any dealers in suburban Maryland, which should be a fairly rich territory. The problem may be that Md. doesn't have as many stores, and most I know of carry Gibson. I'm not as up on the independent stores in Baltimore, other than Bill's Music (a Gibson dealer). If there's a boutique dealer there that sells new instruments, I'm unfamiliar with them.

I live in Bel Air MD and Music Land is my local store and the owner is the guy who turned me on to Heritage...and sold me my 535...he usually has 4 -6 Heritages in stock at any one time...of course Gibson dumped him years ago because he would not carry an unreasonable amount of stock!!!....I guess that is how he came to stock Heritage.

This would be a good place to start. Tommy was a Heritage dealer a long time ago.

The dealer I bought my first Heritage from has dropped the line. He had allot of frustrations a few years back post fire and had enough. Scott over at Fat Cat guitars is a great dude and I would love to work with him on my next guitar. He's in Northern Illinois BTW.

In terms of leads, I bet you did this already but try reaching out to the "dealers" on the list. Many of them left Heritage durring the bad times and probably would be back on board now that things are kicking again.

There is no Heritage dealers in Western New York (Buffalo, Niagara Falls or Rochester)

These guys have been a Heritage dealer (not sure if they still are). They are primarily a video production company run by a guitar enthusiast. They have a showroom and several Heritage guitars--at least they did several months ago.

I was in Buffalo last year and got in the wrong lane while looking for Niagara Falls, I went across to Canada and realized I had 3 guns in the truck(I take a lot of firearms to the farm in PA when I go up as that is the only time I get to do some shooting), I thought I would be spending time in Canada under lock and key but I was surprised when they told me to just go back over. They didn't seem surprised at all when I told them what I had with me. Whew! I will see who the rep is up in that area and pass on some info to him. Do you have any shops in those towns that you like?

Thanks,

Dennis

that was really just my twisted sense of humor..It would be great to have a Heritage dealer nearby..Sometimes I feel like the Lone Ranger ya know what I mean? I get the "Oh that's a Les Paul Knockoff" comments a lot..really chaps my hide sometimes..But Sometimes, after they hear it they go, "Wow! Can I play that thing?" that really makes me smile. :)

Educating the public is a never ending job. The best way is to try to get our guitars in their hands and let them make up their own mind. Heritage is obviously the better quality instrument. I'll see what I can do about finding a dealer up there!

Thanks,

Dennis

I'll have to check them out. I haven't scouted out that many different shops in Greater Baltimore, so I hadn't heard of them. I typically just hit Bill's and the Towson GC whenever I go up there.

They are in Bel Air behind the Best Buy near the Harford Mall.....I have only seen 535's, and 140's and 150's in stock there...but usually has 4 or 5 colors to pick from...the owners name is Joe Noto....good guy to work with.. very fair

I purchased 4 Heritage guitars in the late 80's from Wallace Reed Music. Great guy. I do not know if he still carries any Heritage in stock anymore.

Allan

While Wallace Reed used to be a Heritage dealer, he is not a dealer any more. I cannot open a dealer in close proximity to another and we have 2 already in the Atlanta area.

Good to have you aboard! I'm pretty well fixed, as Steilberg in Louisville is about 3 miles from my home. However, I also travel around through Va, NC, SC and TN. Along the way, I've stopped at a lot of music stores ( part of a medical condition called G.A.S).

Last fall, I stopped at LA Guitar Factory in Concord. He's listed as a dealer and according to his website, he can do special orders. He hand makes guitars there, some pretty interesting and unusual designs. It wasn't a "traditional" store by any stretch. Unless you found him on the web, or happened to drive by and stop, you probably would never know they sell Heritage.

I go to Spartanburg SC monthly but never made it to Palmetto in nearby Greenville. They appear to be a drum manufacturer. There are other music stores in the area that I have visited. Blvd Music in Boiling Springs has a good shop. He got mostly mid priced stuff, Hamer imports, Seagull, etc. He also does vintage stuff. I've talked to him several times. Hames is the local "superstore" in Gaffney... they carry all the usual suspects (Fender Gibson, Martin, Ibanez, Jackson), along with drums PAs, recording stuff.

Not in your territory, but I've also stopped by Paradise Music in Clinton TN north on Knoxville. Its a nice little shop, never bought anything there. He's also a G&L and Hagstrom Dealer. Its be a couple of years since I've been there.

Good luck. Having a group of good dealers is the key to keeping Heritage healthy.

Thanks for the info, I have been in touch with both of these stores. Palmetto has a new head of the guitar department as is getting ready to put in an order. I will be paying them a visit in another week. LA Music is still listed as a dealer on the Heritage web site but they haven't ordered any guitars in 4 years. I would like to find someone else in that area.

Hi Dennis, Glad to see you here on the HOC. My Wife and I have visited Daytona every Winter around Speedweeks since 1984 and I miss your old shop at the corner of Dunlawton and Ridgewood in Port Orange. Haven't been to your new place in Edgewater yet, maybe I can look you up next year.

I live in NJ about half way between NYC and Philly, if there are any local dealers near me I don't know about them. This is obviously a large market area ...I would love to see a dealer come along. I know one good shop but they are a gibson dealer would that rule them out?

We have a small store here in South jersey (Somers Point) that is a heritage dealer. It's called Music Boutique. But they haven't had a new Heritage in years. They do have a few hollowbodies, and 2 150's.

Little Rock Arkansas. We have guitar center who does Gibson, Jacks in Conway who does epiphone, and Sigler in Ft. Smith and Fayettville. Would love to have a Heritage dealer close. Of course, I play lefty so none of these guys are very left friendly.

Seattle needs a dealer. I don't believe there is a dealer in Washington state.

I would suggest talking to A Sharp Music in Renton, WA. They are a high quality guitar dealer featuring Grosh, Fender, and PRS guitars.

I'm in NC about 30 minutes south of Raleigh. Raleigh has the "usual suspects"; Sam Ash and Guitar Center along with over priced Fat Sound in Cary,NC. I happen to like Harry's Guitar Shop on Glenwood Ave in Raleigh and would like to see them become a Heritage dealer. It's small and personal with a no pressure attitude. There's also a shop called Indoor Storm that carries some top shelf amps and custom guitars like; Top Hat, Carr, Briggs and McInturff. A bit expensive also.

i live in Rolesville about 20 mins to raleigh and echo Indoor storm, eddie is great guy and they recently lost the Sadowsky line when he went direct and cut out the dealers. :(. Also there's Sound Pure in Durham they carry eastman, benedetto, comins, foster and the lovely acoustic image amps.

FWIW.

We really need an all lefty dealer in Little Rock. If you could come here and open a southpaw store it would be much appreciated.
