LW Designation / Version Guitars

I have been trying to find more information regarding this designation which Heritage uses on some guitars. Can anyone provide some links as to how Heritage does the weight relief and more info? Are they gutted or the Swiss cheese style relief like Gibby uses? Any thoughts on LW version guitars overall? In particular, does anyone have any experience with the 150 LW’s and their sound/tone?

from what I was told the body is routed out with large chambers, like the inside of a Heritage millenium, or Gibson CS-336. It isn't swiss cheese routed.

I used to own one. It had a nice, woody tone to it.

It is hollowed out, much like a Guild Bluesbird--no Swiss cheese here!

there's a terrific H-157 BB on consignment at my favorite shop that i came close to buying. great feel & sound, maybe 8lbs. compared it to my 9.9lb LPC (WCR Fillmores) and decided to pass. the Heritage was much more comfortable and had a more balanced overall sound (guessing Seymour's J'59s or similar), but my taste leans toward a heavier bottom end when i want it. but that Heritage absolutely slays

I appreciate the replies thus far. Looks like I may have to dip my toe into the water yet again!

Any particular reason it is no longer around?

It's still around. You have to custom order it though. Most people seem to opt for the millennium for the bigger body and F-holes. I'd give Wolfe guitars a call to see what pricing would be. It will be more than a standard H150 due to the extra labor involved, but not that much.

I think he meant why I no longer had it. Two reasons:

1. The color. It was Burnt Amber, and I grew to dislike the color. Silly reason, I know.

2. It had a manufacturing defect which I had to repair myself, as the seller wasn't totally honest with me (it was new). The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, so I decided to sell it. It still sounded killer, though.

Eric, is that the one you had at the picnic?

Yes, it was!

In hindsight, I think it was one of those "I never should have sold that one!" guitars.

Yes, that is what I was asking. The specifics that lead to you parting with yours. Thanks.

Would I buy another one? You bet! But only after I did some detective work...

Is that the standard type of carve they use for weight relief on the LW's?

It's easy to tell if and where a guitar is routed.Tap the top and back.Tone will change drastically when you move from solid to hollow.

Mine is chambered similar but the chamber goes all the way to the three way selector, more like a milli.
