athompsonG85 Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Was wondering how many of you are like me and play metal/hardcore on their Heritage. What kinds of music are y'all playing out there??? I know I'm a young punk to most of you... Am I the only one out there? I like: Deftones Meshuggah It Dies Today My band was like Manson meets The Cure meets Deftones. We were called Sleepisdead.

jmc7581 Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 As Townes Van Zandt reportedly said, “There’s only two kinds of music: the blues and zippety doo-dah.” And MoTown.

jjkrause84 Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 A wide variety. Last group I was in our set list went like this: pop country blues psychedelic odyssey rock psychedelic dance/pop etc. The singer liked pop music, the rhythm (guitar or drums depending) was her boyfriend and went with whatever she said.....I like to play country, blues, rock, psychedelic/experimental music. Finding others willing to genre jump isn't easy, in my experience. That said I've been to a ton of metal shows and I've seen just about everyone I want to see (and multiple times). The only hardcore band I ever liked was Killswitch Engage. I could never sit at home and listen to their albums but live they were AWESOME.
ronalr Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I like to play all kinds of music...when I played full time in the 60's and 70's it was in a 14 piece soul band........but now at home I tend to play different music on different guitars....I use my 575 to play chord melody jazz stuff.......classic rock on the 157...and blues on the 535.........rockabilly on a Gretsch 6120....surf on a Strat...country on a tele and on and on.....that is how I justify having lots of guitars to my wife ....but hon I have to play jazz on a Heritage hollow body....and I need my PRS for modern rock and ...ouch put down that frying pan!!!!!!!!!
iim7v7im7 Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 With my Sweet 16, I play mostly solo jazz chord melody stuff (think Johnny Smith, Barry Galbraith, with less talent, work ethic and chops...:-) With my H-535 I play mostly the blues (think T-Bone Walker, Duke Robillard type stuff with less talent, work ethic and chops...:-) with some friends. Every once in a while I will play some rock songs from my childhood with some buddies from work (Steely Dan tunes...Hey you got to play the opening chord from Don't Take Me Alive with a H-535 plugged into a 5E3 Deluxe..:-)
