Jazzerous Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I have a 87 H575 and wanted to ask the wise what is the best way to humidify a F-hole guitar? I live in the high altitude of Denver and it can get really dry here . My house has a whole house humidifier that ranges from 25-36% . I also have a cookie size tupperware with holes in the lid and cellulose wet sponge placed inside the case with the guitar . Maybe there is a better way to do it??? I don't want to get any cracks in the new fiddle!!!The guitar came from California and was kept in the case for 23 years!
smurph1 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 First Off Jazzerous..That's a Beauty!! I use a green tubular Humidifier in the cases of all my guitars ( I forget the name) but you can get them most anywhere.. Just soak it good, wring it out and put it in the case..I ususally check em every few days jsut to be safe..By the way, I even use them for my solid body H-140 and my P-bass..But, maybe that's overkill..
Steiner Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Keeping the guitar humidified is a good idea. Be careful of the level of humidity, too high will cause problems too. A guitar case is a fairly good closed system and can amass too much humidity. You've probably seen its effect in the patina on the pickups and tuners. Most cigar shops sell hydrometers for under $20. I keep my guitars out of the case and my home in the 50 to 60% humidity range. NICE 575 by the way!
