smurph1 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 a friend of mine is a Fender Fanatic..But, he keeps complaining he can't hear himself over the band..He's bought several Gibbons and didn't really like them..Last week he played my H-140 through my old gibsonette amp, and he kept saying WOW! WOW!..so I started working on him..He kept saying " I don't think I can play a Les Paul that doesn't say Gibbon on it" I said if the name on the headstock is that important go ahead..But they are slapped together on an assembly line and a Heritage is practically a Custom Shop guitar for less money..I left it at that..So today he emailed me about this new guitar shop he found on-line in Florida.."Its called Wolfe's I think"..He said..I was smiling from ear to ear!! "Did you know," he said "that you can get a new hand made H-150 for $2000? That's like $700 less than a Les Paul Standard!!"
DeLorean Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 ...He's bought several Gibbons and ... " I don't think I can play a Les Paul that doesn't say Gibbon on it" ... That take on the name seems appropriate, I am pretty sure that is what they employ on the assembly line these days...
bolero Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 yes, once ppl get over the headstock & realize what a kickass gtr these are you have to be a dunce not to "see the light" actually I've started preferring the H headstock now....kind of sick of all those generic G's hehe
Assumer Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 yes, once ppl get over the headstock & realize what a kickass gtr these are you have to be a dunce not to "see the light" actually I've started preferring the H headstock now....kind of sick of all those generic G's hehe I used to cringe at the headstock. It was from seeing too many gibsons. Now I really like the looks. The Gibson looks too wide to me.
MatZen Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Let's just say when you pick up one of these guitars and really play it, the Gibson name loses its importance.
