tulk1 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Theres been a turn of events. I discovered it only has a short tenon and as I already have a short tenon guitar I just cant see what I will be gaining by having two. Fit as firewood only!!! I've been fighting the G&L Legacy GAS all week. I know we have the $$s for a reasonably priced one. But my ASAT Z3 covers some of the same tonal dimensions. Still, it's hard to NOT look, and then when you find something .... argh!!
FredZepp Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I have the same issue of wanting to buy the same guitar over and over... so I do look to have a noticeable difference.. neck, pickups, something... Throw a set of Sheptone pickups with coil tap and phase push/pulls and then you're done. ( or any of the premium pick-ups that others endorse here ) .... or ... the search continues... ad infinitum...

( or any of the premium pick-ups that others endorse here ) .... or ... the search continues... ad infinitum... I only had one guitar I used from Jan 18th 1993 to New years eve 2006. One amp from 1989ish to 2006. Never found anything that moved me to change it. The increments have to be pretty big to move me. The CNSB took three months of searching out and playing LP type guitars before I found it. Kind of slakes the thirst for anything similar. Glad I am able to return the VSB. It does look great though.

tulk1 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Thanks. Added another. I like your new signature. We'll have to time it to see how long it takes Mr. Rocks to notice.
JeffB Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 Just realised in the last 6-8mths Ive talked myself out of a the H150 in this post, a Mesa Electra Dyne, a Bad Cat Hot Cat, A complete fx switching system, a Yamaha SA2200, a PRS McCarty Smoke Burst PF, Tom Anderson Tele and a few other odds and sods. There was probably a Taylor in there as well. Its all been good stuff as well and desirable for me on all kinds of levels......I choked at the crucial moment....... I am the Anti GASman or something. A black hole where happy GAS feelings go to die.... I really do love the stuff I have.
yoslate Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I really do love the stuff I have. An enviable spot, for sure!
tulk1 Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Just realised in the last 6-8mths Ive talked myself out of ...... Dear Mr. AntiGasMan (AGM for short): In the past two weeks I've passed on: a Dr. Z RxJr; a Dr. Z Maz18NR; two different Larrivee Electrics (yes, Larrivee); 1 Larrivee acoustic; 5 G&L Legacy's; 2 Taylor T-5s; a Taylor expression system for the XXX; mulitple od/boost pedals ....... and scads of other stuff. Had the cc out for all of them when I just put it away. I did, however, just splurge for an Allen/Heath MixWizard3 16:2. And I know I'm loosing the battle on the Legacy GAS, even tho' the ASAT Z3 covers much of the same territory. I do, however, have to admire your ability to actually pass on the gear once you have it in hand at home! If it comes in the house .... it's staying for a while, here.
JeffB Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 I do, however, have to admire your ability to actually pass on the gear once you have it in hand at home! Huh!!!! Think you just answered a question Ive been asking myself for a day or so. Gas diffused by trying before you buy.

Any ability to diffuse GAS is a rare trait here....... (BTW... Your Don Quixote avatar caught my eye... certainly one of my favorite books of all time.... by Cervantes in 1605)

Your Don Quixote avatar caught my eye... certainly one of my favorite books of all time.... by Cervantes in 1605) Don Quixote is favourite of mine as well. This thread and the guitar that started it inspired me to update my avatar. What kind of quest did I think I was on What windmill was I taking a swipe at?? Think I got caught up in some of the visions of splendor I see in different threads on the HOC. It is a pretty guitar though.......
Steiner Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Tully - that very same poster hung in the room where I first learned to play guitar. I had forgotten about it 'till I saw your avatar this morning. Brings back fond memories...
