jazzbone Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 Both of those are exceptional... Great looking Heritage there , Jazzbone. And both are dots..... I guess they were custom ordered that way and not a different model of the H150-CM. I assume that the label just says H-150CM ? Actually, the label says H-150 Spec OSM. No mention of CM
jazzbone Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 The 150CM Specials only came with dots. Attempt at a less expensive 150, yet still have everything else the regular runs have - killer tops, excellent hardware, k'zoo mojo and on and on. Only dif I can remember is the dots v traps. Jazzbone - that is one killer guitar! Give the stock pups some time. You may find they grow on you, much the same as the hardware is doing. Then again, pickups are relatively inexpensive and easy to swap. Could be fun. tulk, Thanks for the advice. Do you know what Heritage used for caps? They don't appear to have any markings, just yellow in color. I was thinking of trying some different tone caps, maybe vitamin Qs. Any thoughts?

Have you found that changing the caps have improved the tone of the Schallers?
High Flying Bird Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Mine's M19104 fourth guitar of June, 22nd That's too slick. I will call Jim and tell him the relationship. Schallers in Jim's 150 are a little tame. You need to use your amp to get your tone. But if you ever need to go clean the Schallers will give a very bright - almost, well kinda' - Rick tone.
Kuz Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 thanks Kuz...I'll check RS out. Have you found that changing the caps have improved the tone of the Schallers? My 150s have: 1. Lollar p-90s 2. Throbak pickups 3. & 4. have Tom Short Marc Ford Tombuckers I honestly never cared for any of the Schaller pups, but these RS guitarworks caps can only help. If you decide to change the pups Tom Shorts are only my short list of BEST PICKUPS and are very affordable consider what you get!

Yeah, I've been hunting around for replacement pickups and Tom Short is on the short list, along with JS Moore, Wolfetone Dr Vintage and Lollar Imperials. I'm trying to sell off some rack gear to gather the cash. Seems like everything I like is $250+. I may go the used route. Have you heard of Brian Gunsher (BG pickups)? I've been reading some good things over on TGP about him and his sets are very affordable.
nachogrande Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Welcome aboard! Your axe's color is awesome. Maybe one of the best color option for me.
FredZepp Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Actually, the label says H-150 Spec OSM. No mention of CM That confirms that it is a H-150 Special and not a custom ordered H-150CM . I would expect the finish to be OSB , Old Style Sunburst. I had heard good things about Vitamin Q caps also. I have Bumblebees in my 157 that has the Sheptones, that guitar sounds great.

Expensive but well worth it...

Bryan is easy to deal with, knows his stuff. If you go that route you won't be disappointed. And he's very reasonable, price-wise. Thing about custom pickups, they're getting like guitars. So many to try, so little $$s to try them with. edit: Duh!! I have a set of his Pure 90s, with one custom cut for a smaller route, in my Stambaugh Tele.

I'm seriously considering a set of Bryan's Lizard humbuckers. Either that or there's a set of Tom Short's over on TGP if I can get the scratch together. Thanks for your recomendation.
jazzbone Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 UPDATE! I just scored a pair of Tom Short Marc Ford Tombuckers for the H150. A pair of bumblebees' and I'll be set...
