Vintage burst - that light orange to yellow color.

Keep the rest of it simple......

Floating rosewood bridge base, bar bridge.

Bigsby B6

No fretboard binding.

Ebony fretboard. No inlays, except for side dots.

No flame. Plain top.

P90s

Pickup switch. maybe a volume knob, probably not. Nothing else.

Minimal tone machine. What do you all think?

Some serious thought has gone into those specs....Oh yeah , that does sound nice

Kind of a vintage axe, but with a twist.

:P

I think that eventually you'll miss the fb inlays and the volume knob. And if you ever tried to resell it (be honest, it could happen) you'll wish you had binding, and a bit o'flame probably. Altho' on the good jazz boxes that isn't quite as desirable (maybe?). Never had a guitar with a bigsby, so can't comment on that.

The P90s in it sound like a good deal. I'd sure look at the Fralins to get that hum-free thing going, tho'. (yes Kuz, blasphemy!! :P )

Thanks guys, I'll look at those Fralins. And Tulk, you are right with the fretboard inlays. I was playing last night to see which I used more - inlays or side dots. I'm always looking at the inlays. So - dot inlays are in.

Check out the photo. No knobs. Hmmm.

That's a master volume. Setzer used it for volume swell effects, like a volume pedal.

Ah, I see. So .... it's a volume control. ^_^

Sounds like a good thing to have. Are you thinking of a volume pedal instead? (need one? B) )

I never use the individual tone or volume controls on my humbucker or P90 guitars. If I need to change the tone, I change it from my amp or flick the pickup switch.

A master volume would be nice when playing with others though, just to back off a bit. Where should I put it - on the horn? where it usually is? on the headstock? ^_^

Excuse me while I think out loud! B)

I'm thinking like it is in the 2nd photo. Outside of the F-hole

On the horn might interfere with strumming. Inside of the F-hole might interfere with the bigsby.

I'm a big fan of simple, Spartan heritages.I don't think it kills the value at all. Us you get it cheaper , and prolly quicker.

If you are going the Bigsby route, in my experience, you will really want a roller bridge. Sperzels, as you have mentioned, are another good idea. I also had a graphite nut.

On my previous Gretsch, that was my setup. Never had issues with staying in tune and no creaking.

Take into account my lack of experience, and the obvious reduction in resale value, but I really like the idea of just a volume pedal and no knobs. I do not know if the pedal would suck tone or not.

Thanks for the replies fellas!

Here's the current wish list:

Vintage burst - that light orange to yellow color.

Floating rosewood bridge base, bar bridge. I have one on my other Bigsby archtop - no issues with tuning or intonation at all. The simplicity of the bar bridge is incredible.

Bigsby B6

No fretboard binding.

Ebony fretboard. Dot inlays.

No flame. Plain top.

Locking Sperzels

Delrin or Graphite nut

One knob - master volume.

9.5 fretboard radius. (!!!!)

Need to run this all by Ren to see if it is possible.

Keep y'all posted......

Best volume pedal I know of is made by Keith Hilton, Hilton Electronics, think the model number is ME-262. I have the lower profile one. It's an active, wall wart powered unit with no pot in it to suck tone, does a bit of clean boost at full volume, very quiet, has a treble roll off adjustment if wanted, also a range adjustment from full on to how much you want for the minimum setting. Not inexpensive, but I love mine and it is worth every penny.

That's got to be better than my off the shelf Ernie Ball, Jr. vol pedal. It doesn't suck tone, but it introduces a swooshing noise, which I can't abide.

Well, never heard back from Ren. Guess they are not interested in new business.

Oh well. Put an order in for a G6120SHLTV tonight. Would have liked to buy American, but whatever.

Later, Heritage. Goodbye and Good luck.
