strings2wood Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Just curious as to what you're using and why? I'm open to all suggestions- I own a CS '56 Strat and CS '57 Tele- they would always be my single coil choices but I'm open to p-rails or straight humbuckers. What are using and why? clips would be a bonus! Thanks folks!
tulk1 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Is there something wrong with the ones you've currently got?
smurph1 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Is there something wrong with the ones you've currently got? I Do have to say if I had a Custom Shop Tele and Strat, I wouldn't mess with em..But they're your guitars..
rjsanders Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 from what i've heard, p-rails. wonder if the body could handle seymour's phat staples! otherwise anything you'd like to hear in an SG...
strings2wood Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 Is there something wrong with the ones you've currently got? Not at all, it's just if i want single coil sounds- I'd be more inclined to use the strat and the tele rather than a split coil- However- P rails would give the flexibility of humbuckers and a p-90 sound which might be a range/ flexilbility that could be interesting- that's all- or just have humbuckers for the 170, hence I was curious if someone had THE best humbucker suggestion based on experience. p.s. i have no intention of selling or changing the single coils in any way, in case someone thought I was wanting to change those pick-ups. Cheers, Simon in Melbourne.
rjsanders Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 love the sound this fella gets with p-rails in an h-140: my Chapin t-bird (think tele) has a neck p'up w/a Chapin Beelzebucker strat-y + p90ish coils selectable either way or both as a 'bucker. (gotta do a clip one of these days)
strings2wood Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 love the sound this fella gets with p-rails in an h-140: It's just great isn't it....this clip is GREATLY responsible for getting me excited about and then buying my first Heritage. Just a great tone all round.
