LH575 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Has anyone ever removed a nut from their Heritage? I want to put a GraphTech nut in mine. From what I read, you score around the nut with an xacto knife and knock it out with a quick blow to the side. Sounds easy enough to screw up. Anyone every try?

But seriously, I leave nuts to my guitar tech with the proper tools and know how. There is an art to doing nut slots that I don't have the time to learn.
barrymclark Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Sorry, wrong thread. Thought this was about something else.
FrankV Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 this came up once before, and this page has a clip and nuts you can order if you're up to it. http://www.mojotone.com/Guitar-Parts/Bone-...e-Nut-10-Radius "doesn't look too hard" he said just before the s**t hit the fan!
FrankS Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I had a Graphtech nut and setup done on my H-150 two weeks ago and cannot believe the dfference. I have had a Graphtech nut on my Strat for 30 years and it is great.

I have had a Graphtech nut on my Strat for 30 years and it is great. What a perfect time to run across this thread! Changed strings on my G&L legacy last night and a small piece of the original nut chipped away from inside the g-string slot (G-String slot, broken nut, *Insert joke here); looking at it with the string back on it looks normal, but the string is buzzing a little when hit open, and if you do a bend it makes a horrible creaking noise I am thinking of going with the Graphtec Black Tusq XL
pegleg32 Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I'm sure there are a few folks here with the skills and proper equipment to do that, but since the nut is probably the single most important item in a proper setup, I would not do it on any guitar that was important to me. I would take it to the best pro I could find. On the other hand, it would be fun to experiment with it on a guitar one didn't worry about too much.
