barrymclark Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 It was an early birthday present from my father-in-law! I have played about with these before in the stores but there is only so much you can get out of that experience all though I did really dig it and the other Roland Cube amps. I ran the 140 through it and just WOW! What a sound from such a little amp! I think this might be the modeler king as far as I am concened.
Ray Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Congratulations, Barry. Thank you for the feedback re Roland Micro Cube amp. I had always stuck with the same amps/names, but I now feel the need to branch out a little bit more.
brentrocks Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 i have seen those in GC...often thought of getting one
t0aj15 Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 I've been on the fence myself for a couple months now about calling Sweetwater and having a Cube 80X delivered.
barrymclark Posted April 18, 2010 Author Posted April 18, 2010 I've been on the fence myself for a couple months now about calling Sweetwater and having a Cube 80X delivered. I have played on that one MANY times at stores and have been VERY impressed. Not so much that it is supposed to be a perfect model of whatever classic sound but more that it does a top notch job of getting the feel right.
hiro Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 yeah will need to look into a small portable coffee / house jam / amp with good quality sound in the future . . . will look into this, thanks
Bluzman54 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I have one for about a year. They are incredible little amps.....I can't believe the tones that Roland has achieved in such a little package. i have used it with a variety of guitars and all have sounded good. Since getting mine, three friends have purchased one after hearing mine. The other great thing is that it can run for about 20 hours on a set of AA batteries. I will give the Micro Cube a definite thumbs up. Jim C
Thundersteel Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I played through the Micro Cube RX several weeks ago, and I was surprised on how good it sounded.

Even if you come right back to the amps you are accustomed to, you will be richer for the experience.
Connor Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I bought one last year because of the battery feature. I like to sit out in the backyard, sunroom, etc and play. This little MicroCube is easy to drag around, it sounds good, and you don't even need to plug it in. I don't think it is powerful enough to play with anyone else, but I don't think it's really designed for that either.
barrymclark Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 Due to my bad knees, I am highly considering getting my hands on one of the Cube 80s or 60s. The vox ways a healthy 90lbs and is little fun on narrow staircases. The Cubes max at 35lbs. The only bummer is, Roland doesnt have a matching speaker cabinet for these. That would mean a lot of testing single 12 cabs to get the 'right' sound. Bah. Also really considering getting a Tech21 212 Power Engine and running the direct out of the Micro into it. hmmmmm.
Guest mgoetting Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I got a refurb from buy.com's outlet on ebay for $68 with shipping. It's very nice for such a little guy. There's a hum when I'm not touching guitar metal, but that's not there with battery use. Great value.
mark555 Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 My MicroCube Thanks Barry, enjoyed your playing, and a nice looking guitar with it.
