Blunote Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Thought I'd follow up from my first post in January. That's when I bought my Millennium Standard Ultra. Original Post Being that this is my first ever electric guitar and given that I've been working out of the country since I bought it, I haven't been able to play much. But now I'm back home, between gigs (so to speak). I'm able to play 4-6 hours/day. You have to understand, I'm still figuring out how all the knobs work on the amp and guitar. I initially had some concerns about the the Blues Junior I purchased given some of the opinions I've read. Early on I was worried it wouldn't have enough head room for clean jazzy numbers. I also concerned whether or not the semi hollow Millennium would be able to push the amp into overdrive at practice volumes. I'm not worried now. I've played some really nice clean tones through it with tunes like "Needle and the Damage Done", "I'd Love to Change the World", "Misty" and some others with the amp set high on master & low volume. The tones are so Fender, chimey, full, mellow...beautiful. At present, I'm learning Cream's version of Cross Road Blues. This song was recorded with lots of overdrive and I'm pleased to report that my guitar/amp combo delivers here as well. I can actually get a dirtier sound with the amp volume set at max and master set to 2 than Clapton used on the original recording. And for as loud as it seems in my study, when I step outside with my guitar, close the French doors and play, I can barely hear the amp. But step back inside, turn the master up to 5 or 6 and the room throbs. It's great! I'm really surprised. I love acoustic guitar and didn't really expect to enjoy an electric this much. I think I got really lucky when I bought this semi-hollow Heritage.
High Flying Bird Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Good looking guitar. There is a hideous mark on the neck pickup. Maybe you can buff it out. Have you felt the air pump out of the f-holes yet? That is so cool!
TalismanRich Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 The Milli is a sweet guitar. There's no problem driving any amp with mine. The Seth Lovers have plenty of output.
tulk1 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Thought I'd follow up from my first post in January. That's when I bought my Millennium Standard Ultra. Original Post Millie's are wonderful guitars. I've had two. Kinda miss my ol' Millie SAE. It was a cool guitar. Yours is quite nice, too. Uh ... that is a nitro finish approved stand, I assume?
CJTopes Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I have HRWs in My Millie DC, I have no problem driving the tubes in my amps.
FredZepp Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Great Post... we love to hear of someone discovering the Heritage magic. so cool ... "It's great! I'm really surprised. I love acoustic guitar and didn't really expect to enjoy an electric this much. I think I got really lucky when I bought this semi-hollow Heritage." Your review had some great descriptions and may be helpful to others wondering about this experience . Your guitar is a beauty , no doubt and after hearing your remarks many may experience Heritage GAS.
Millennium Maestro Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 There is a hideous mark on the neck pickup. Maybe you can buff it out. You are soooo. bad Fbird. Looks very similar to my Ltd Ed. 2000's.. I love how they acoustically ring out! Welcome to the Millie Mob!
Spectrum13 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Don't make the same mistake I made with my Millie. Very easy to buff the gold finish off your Seths. And that is some pick for your first electric, what was your first car a BMW or Mercedes? My 155 is like a little L5, or a chambered 150 great size and range and can do it all. It gets better the more you play it. Play it lots and lots.
chico Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Looks like a dot on that pickup selector switch- sure you don't have HRWs? Beautiful axe, I hope you enjoy. I like to play acoustic too, depends on the mood, time of day, etc.. love my Millies when it's time to plug in
ronalr Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Great post!!!...beautiful Millie......congratulations!!!!
Blunote Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 Looks like a dot on that pickup selector switch- sure you don't have HRWs? Beautiful axe, I hope you enjoy. I like to play acoustic too, depends on the mood, time of day, etc.. love my Millies when it's time to plug in As far as I know, they are HRW's, unless the previous owner changed them out for something else. They seem kind of hot & I expect that may be one reason why she drives my amp at low sound levels. But then it seems counter intuitive that the pickups would be hot enough to drive my amp, and yet mellow enough to produce such creamy cleans. I'll have to look under the covers one day to confirm the pups. Life is good.
Hfan Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Beautiful Mille. I too have a Blues Junior. If you like, check out billmaudio.com. The site is dedicated to the Blues Jr. He is an engineer who has come up with lots of great, relatively simple mods for the Jr. I've done most of them. Made mine even better.

The site is dedicated to the Blues Jr. He is an engineer who has come up with lots of great, relatively simple mods for the Jr. I've done most of them. Made mine even better. I own one too. I moded a few things. It did help big time. I have 14 years in electronics R&D so it easier for me than most people. I had to redo a trace because the circuit board is so cheap. The Blues Jr. is the amp I like to use to make f-hole air conditioning. It is loud enough to keep Joe from trying to drown me out like he was doing with my Champ 12. Great amp!
Blunote Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 I agree, the Blues Junior is a great amp. When I first head this Millie, she was plugged in to a Fender Vibrolux and the sound stopped me in my tracks. But, not having the money for a Vibrolux, I plugged in and listened to several other more affordable amps in the shop with my new Heritage. To my ear, the Blues Junior had the Fender sound I'd heard from the Vibrolux. I'm sure that's sacrilege to many amp purists, but to my ears, that's what I heard. Soon afterwards, I spotted a BJr for sale in the Gear Page Emporium and pulled the trigger on it. It's odd to see this amp recommended so much on so many "What amp should I buy?" threads, then trashed for it's tone on so many others. It leaves me to wonder what they hear, or what they think they're not hearing. For me, I'll just keep trusting my own ears. That strategy seems to have served me well so far.
Connor Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Beautiful Guitar! I like the F holes and the finish.
hiro Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Nice! I know, I love classical guitar but my h150 gets all the airplay. I didn't know you could get engraved / etched pickups, I've seen a few with a photographer etched in it. I want one with a pilot . . . maybe a skydiver.
