Brown Truck Blues

Hi Everyone, I'm a relative newcomer here, and I'm expecting my first Heritage to arrive today via UPS. I picked up a used 535 on TGP, and I can hardly wait to get it. I've tried a couple new in the very few music shops that had them, and was overwhelmed by the quality. I already have a Gibson ES-335 Memphis reissue that I bought when I turned 40, but I was equally if not more impressed with the 535s I recently tried! That's going to be a tough pill to swallow, and maybe create a bit of a dilemma, if I end up liking this new guitar BETTER than the one I paid twice as much for!

Anyway, hopefully, I'll be among your ranks soon. I'm even considering making the "pilgrimage" this year up to Kalamazoo; I've talked to my drummer about coming up with me, whether you guys need another drummer or not. I'm going to try to attach a pic of my 335, so you can see what the "red one" that is coming has to live up to.

Here's a quick update; I missed the home delivery today, so I went over to UPS and picked it up. Very well packed; no issues there. I finally got it excavated out of the packaging (haha) and opened up the TKL case it was in. plugged it into my Blues Junior for starters, although I usually run semi hollows through my DRRI. Sounds and plays GREAT!! Action set up low, lower than I usually have mine set up, but I'm going to let it be for now. It's a little more scuffed up here and there than I caught in the pics in the listing, but now I don't have to worry about putting that first scratch/ding there myself, right?! Also, I'd like to think that that means it got the crap played out of it because it was an awesome guitar for the previous owner. I'll try to get a pic or two up in the next few days. Thanks to everyone for their kind words, as I was a little skittish Paypalling this much money to an individual I'd never met, instead of through Ebay. For some reason, I almost EXPECTED a problem, but it all went very smoothly, shipped well and quickly. Now I can breath!

If your experience is anything like mine, you'll really like the 535. When I was in Wilcutt a few months back, I play 4 different 335s. The ONLY one that came up to the sound and feel of my 535 was a used one from the early 70s. The new ones just seemed a bit lifeless. You'll have to give us a rundown after you've had time to get a feel for them head to head.

Well, I'm not a great photographer, but hopefully you get the idea about my new to me Heritage 535. I really love the sound and feel of this thing. It's not a stunner like many I've seen here and elsewhere, but I'm very happy with this, my first, but I doubt last, Heritage!

Mmmmm good.... that one is...

Nice pic of a sweet H-535. Schaller pickups and red finish make this Heritage quite enjoyable , I would think.

The REAL deal .. from 225 Parsons St. Kalamazoo

Congrats and tell us more impressions of this one when you have time...... B)
