morbidrockgod Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 My CM-150's jack plate is cracked. Will a Gibson jack plate fit? If not, where can I get one (I live in Brazil)? Any tips will be highly appreciated! (Tried to find an older posting about the subject but couldn't, so I created this)
peteraltongreen Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Bom Dia,Morbid Rock God. I've enclosed a photo of 2 of my guitar's jack arrangements. The first guitar,on the left,is a 1986 Heritage C140CM,with a barrel jack, and no plate. The guitar on the right is a Guild 'Bluesbird',with a metal jack plate. This plate is a standard size, and will retro fit Gibson Les Paul guitars. If your jackplate looks like this,I'd say you're O.K. What I'd do is carefully take off what's left of your old jackplate,go to your local guitar shop, and match it up.If no luck,I'm sure Heritage will supply you with one. Good Luck.
FredZepp Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 You might want to consider upgrading to a genuine vintage 50's LP jack plate , there's one on eBay for only $450. A Kalamazoo original it is. ... and the tone is great... vintage 50's jack plate for LP
Thundersteel Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 a genuine vintage 50's LP jack plate And yet they STILL charge for shipping!
morbidrockgod Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 Thank you very much guys! I think I'll take Big Bob's advice though, and go Stewmac... I want to keep my guitar as close to original as possible, I'm not much of a tinkerer... Cheers!
cook Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 A gibson type one will fit. Shipping from Stew Mac will cost more than the plate. I think I have a Stew Mac cream one somewhere. I ended up using a metal one. If you don't need it right away, PM me your address and you can have it if I can find it.
