TalismanRich Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I hadn't really planned on this, but last week I was feeling a little like Brent must (most days ). When you take a shot at one, sometimes you get lucky. So it was with this one. UPS dropped it off today. I plan to do a little cleaning, new strings, a bit of polish and she'll be ready to play. D serial number, so she's not as old as Smurph's. Very nice feel, light weight. Should be good to hold for a couple of hours without breaking the back! She's definitely going to be a player, not a trophy piece. And as Jazzpunk said, you can't just have one!
FredZepp Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 GREAT CHOICE !!! Those old 140's are awesome. Great woods, great design, and they sound and play like a fine vintage instrument should. That's a beauty and these are priced right at the moment. Congrats ...
Steiner Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Contrasting your vernacular with the more common assertion of "getting lucky", I'd say you did! She's pretty too. Congrats!
TalismanRich Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 Nice one! How's it play? Thanks guys. I've had a bit of time to shine things up. Frets are in really good shape, the setup is pretty good as well. The feel... well its closer to my Guild S100 than my H157. Both weigh about the same, the neck has the thinner feel of the Guild. Soundwise, it's not at fat and chunky as the 157 but it rings really nice!
High Flying Bird Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 The little girl in the photo... "I like Daddy's new guitar." Smart kid!
GroovieGuitarGuus Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Is that the guitar from 'Brentrock' who was for sale on Ebay??? Nice guitar.... Great!!! Greatings from The Netherlands

And she doesn't have a broken headstock..(I'm not over it yet) I'll get there though..

peteraltongreen Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 ! Hi TalismanRich., Lovely little guitar, the 140.Mine's a C year, and I've had in from new.I think I was probably one of the first people in the U.K. to own a Heritage. I've since bought a 575 ( E ),which I got new too.I still have both, and they've got better with age. A little tip from me.Get rid of the tailpiece that's fitted, and fit a standard stop bar.Raise it slightly off the body of the guitar, and make sure the strings only contact the bridge on the saddle. The sustain is amazing ! Enjoy your new guitar.Great colour too ! Peter Alton Green ( U.K. )
