Orangepicker Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 The perfect crime. Get, get out and keep them guessing! I love it! The truth is if I was McCloud or Chester I would be dead now and most likely I am the ghost in the Kalamazoo factory and I am working on driving them crazy if they don't start making the H-357 again!!! Actually I was born in 1959 and just found out at 50 years of age that My dad named me after the actor because he liked the character Chester that he played on TV. My website www.bigorangeguitar.com gives a little info of me and my business. Thanks, you guys are great fun! Dennis
Patrick Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 The guy who would know if this is factual or fictional is Jay Wolfe. Jay is their largest customer. No one would buy a company without first talking with that company's largest customer. Jay may not be able to divulge any info due to confidentiality comittments. However, if someone were to ask Jay a specific question . . . and the answer was an excercise in "dancing" . . . that would tell you something. If Jay was to say . . . unequivocally, that it just isn't so . . . . . then it isn't!!!
High Flying Bird Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Actually I was born in 1959 and just found out at 50 years of age that My dad named me after the actor because he liked the character Chester that he played on TV. You think you have it bad, Tulk's dad maned him after Festus.
Thundersteel Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I originally bought my H555 from Dennis. He's good people. When I talked to him on the phone, I found out he's from my hometown--how cool is that?
golferwave Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 You think you have it bad, Tulk's dad maned him after Festus. Now that's funny!
GrandpaLarry Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 There goes Gramps hitting the bottle again.......... Well, I hope I'm wrong. Still, a nip from the flask would be appropriate if my source is correct. What my friend told me was that he called the factory and was told the news by whoever it was he talked to. He's been a dealer for several years. Keep in mind that the original partners are all getting up there and retirement might well look good to them.
golferwave Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Maybe they were telling him about Vince buying in as a partner and he took it to mean the whole business had been sold.
Kuz Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I will try to call Vince on Monday. If it is not true I am sure they would want this cleared up ASAP. If it is true, then it will really put a dark cloud over the PSP3!!!!
Patrick Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I will try to call Vince on Monday. If it is not true I am sure they would want this cleared up ASAP. If it is true, then it will really put a dark cloud over the PSP3!!!! I talked to Vince this past week to confirm a color change on the new Golden Eagle they are building for me. (switched from ASB to OSB) He said that the PSPIII is scheduled for August. I told him I'd be driving in from NJ to attend and to pick up my new guitar. Everything seemed pretty much status quo. But . . . then again . . . Vince is an attorney by trade. If he saw the need to keep any info on an impending sale of Heritage Guitar Company, I'm sure he would be quite adept at it. The last thing they would want to do is to start "spooking off" special build customers. But Kuz is correct. If this is just an inaccurate rumor . . . then they should make a posting stating as much here on The Forum.

ledzef Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 This rumor would explain why Brent has been buying so many Heritages lately, he's cornerning the market so he can upcharge his original Heritages. Shrewd business pratice there Brent I salute you. Lol jking but seriously if they sell it's going to put alot of us on edge about the future of the company.

Shrewd business pratice there Brent I salute you. Whoa - you may be on to something there. I better get a jump... "For sale: Beautiful H150 made by the original owners. Sure collectors piece. Cash discount of $114,500."

He called the factory and someone on the other end of the phone just blurted out that Heritage had been sold and that's it?! Sold to who? With what intentions?
brentrocks Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I just heard from a pretty reliable source that there are no buyouts in the works.
Thundersteel Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I think you are really a Gibson spy, trying to lure customers away from Heritage biggrin.gif Heck, maybe it's Henry J. himself trying to eliminate the competition!
big bob Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Heck, maybe it's Henry J. himself trying to eliminate the competition! Get a rope.
GrandpaLarry Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 I wish he had given you more details! He called the factory and someone on the other end of the phone just blurted out that Heritage had been sold and that's it?! Sold to who? With what intentions? What I am finding is that the bearer of bad news is as unwelcome as the news he brings. Look, I am passing on second hand information. I was told by my friend, who has been a Heritage dealer for several years, that when he called the factory this week, he was told that the company had been sold. I did ask who the buyers were, but he did not know. This may be unwelcome news but it is hardly all that surprising, considering the ages of the remaining original partners. Jim Deurloo, Marvin Lamb, and J.P. Moats are all over 70 years old. By the way, I was also informed that Music Man too has been sold. And to a Chinese company no less. I just hope that whoever buys Heritage does so with a commitment to maintain the quality we value. Nevertheless, the guys who started the company will be virtually impossible to replace given their background and experience. That is ALL I know. Go yell as your wives or kick the dog if you're P.O'd

Go yell as your wives or kick the dog if you're P.O'd Larry I hope none of the HOC are aiming there swords at you. BECAUSE that would be RUDE. The info may not be well received, but I assure you you are and should feel welcome and free to say whatever you please. I don't know Larry, but I will stand up for his right to speak his peace. and larry please don't confuse distain over the news for anger of the source. Oh and keep away from High Flying Bird, He'll grab your behind.
FredZepp Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I think the guys are just pulling your leg a bit , Larry. And your logic about the possibility is true.... it is likely to happen one day. It's something near to our heart and so we'd like for things to remain the same for a good while longer... And it is understood that you are just relaying information that you were given.
Jazzpunk Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 That is ALL I know. Go yell as your wives or kick the dog if you're P.O'd I'm not mad and I'm not married...no dog either lol. Honestly though, you can't drop news like that and not expect the members of the HOC to want details!

Honestly though, you can't drop news like that and not expect the members of the HOC to want details! Details are the one thing I don't have. I've been calling my friend all day at home, but I have not reached him. I did leave a message saying that HOC members had threatened a lynching if he didn't pass more information on. Actually, I originally posted this information in the hope that a few members, some of whom appear to be well connected, could shed more light on the subject.

Well, Brent did shed some light and I said I will call the factory tomorrow.

Love the Music Man Guitars. I was over at the Ernie Ball site and no mention there.
brentrocks Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I just spoke with Vince Margol and Heritage IS NOT being bought or sold
