fxdx99 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 So with rj's suggestion, I bought a ZT Lunchbox amp. Big white truck dropped it off yesterday and I brought to Saturday Morning Music Fun Club this morning. Really is the size of like the old comic book lunchboxs from the 60/70s. Put the guitar in gigbag in one saddle bag, the amp and some cords in the other one. Fit perfect, can even close/latch the top. About 9 lbs or the weight of a 150. Plenty of youtube stuff, so I won't post a clip. I didn't have high expectations being the tube-amp snob that I am, but it works surprisingly well. Plenty of volume for the morning jam, which had no drums, but bass, 4 acoutics to the board and 4 electrics today so a bit of volume from the group. Folks kinda snickered when they saw it... cuz... well, for the most part they're all toob-amp snobs, too with 2 blackface princeton reverbs in the group today. But heh after playing it a spell there were just puzzled looks at 'how come that li'l thing puts out so much sound'? It's not gonna replace a nice blackface or tweed, but dang if it isn't a fun thing to play. Does the trick for small, light, and very useable. And of course since I rode it rained buckets while we were playing. Which made for plenty more snickering of how I was gonna get the geetar home without it getting soaked. 2 of the acoustic players knew a ton of old swing/country/blues and had the chops and voices for it. Playing that stuff with the thunder/lightning/rain crashing down was just waaaay too much fun. But living the clean life helps as we jammed from 10:30 till 2 and by the time we were done the sun was starting to peak thru. Yeh - a fun day indeed.
pegleg32 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 That's way cool FXD. Sounds like a great bunch to jam with also.
golferwave Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 A friend of mine bought one of these and he gigs with it! Just sets up the mic and through the soundboard. It does put out remarkable sound and tone for the size, and so easy to pack up at the end of the night. I'm just waiting for the one with Batman graphics to come out before getting mine.
Dick Seacup Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 That's pretty cool, Randy. I'm still holding out for an old Gibbon, though.
