ledzef Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 OK silly question but I finally popped the pups off my Blues Deluxe and didn't see anything that said HWR on them but the base was gold. Does that mean that they are Golden Schaller '50s pups? Thanks.

My Gold 535's pups are stronger than the ones In the old 535 dot neck I had. Both were labeled the same.
barrymclark Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 My Schallers are not labelled as anything and they are Golden 50's. Ledzef, are you referring to the brass base for the pickup bobbin? If so, that is common industry practice and isn't likely indicative of a specific model. Although it can easily be removed, one of the most readily visible indicators that you have HRW's is the dotted toggle switch knob.
tulk1 Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 If the pickups were HRWs, they would be clearly marked as such on the base. Lacking that, you have the stock Schallers. That they are actually Golden 50's, well, that is something we have devined on the HoC, as they seem to be the only Schallers that fit the description. On the stock Schallers I have pulled, they did not say Golden 50s; only Schaller, Made in Germany. And agreed on the switch tip not always being correct. My Millie NFH has a dot on the pickup selector; it has Tom Short pickups; Steiner has the HRWs.
smurph1 Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I think Stock Schallers have 4 screws on each side of the pickup..Maybe that will help?
