cod65 Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/i...ost&id=6589 I like Mr Dale's hat. It looks just like a balding head. Where can I get one?
Sparky Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 No Not true. Heritage Ghost built a stat type guitar for Guild in the 80's.. Sorry... I should have been more clear. I play the way Albert King and Dick Dale do, I wasn't commenting on guitars of Heritage extraction.

Do or did? Has been some time since Albert passed on and IMO he played rings around BB, and Buddy and was 80% of Stevie Ray's sound. From Albert to Dick is two ends of the spectrum. Albert had his own tunings and would bend the Bjesus out of a string to get a note. Do you use EADGBA for Albert?

Sorry Sparky, Read the post and saw the photo.. you play like Eric Gale. Would that be more comfortable with the controls on the bottom, if you are having it made to order you would have more room for your forearm.
peterbright Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 You can have the monkey grip easily added after you receive it from Heritage. Any decent luthier could do it.

I play guitars with the high E on top and the bass strings at the bottom. I do not have a style similar to either Dick Dale or Albert King. Some say pulling strings downward to raise pitch is physically easier, and that is certainly a technique Albert used to much acclaim (and SRV "adapted" into his style). I'm aware that Mr. King died some time ago.

I didn't say I wanted a "Monkey Grip" on my guitar.... That was Mr. Cup poking a little fun at my question. I do have a monkey that has been trained in the art of face removal, but as Peter Gabriel once said, "Don't you monkey with the monkey".
Sparky Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 wait, so you actually WANT it backwards? Yes. So when ordering a left-handed Heritage (or any tune-o-matic bridge style guitar), they have to shift the angle of the bridge to accommodate the strings being "reversed" to insure the guitar can be intonated. On some guitars (like the one I posted in this thread) I was able to buy an aftermarket Gotoh bridge that has more adjustable space than standard TOM bridges which gave me enough tolerance to intonate the bridge. I just had a new "righty" nut put on and it was then a usable guitar for me. So you live in Morris County? I just read about some French guy that hacked a family of three to death in the 1800's and they hung him in the square in Morristown. Then they made wallets and lampshades out of his skin. Jersey baby!
golferwave Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Albert Dale is the King of Surfer Blues. And a real ladies man.
big bob Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 sparky, send ren an e-mail. If it's possible hell let you know. I would not worry too much about access to the upper frets, if you can play the money frets well you can play them well. If you can't all the access in the world won't help.. look at all the access I have, wish I played up there better. (the 23rd and 24th are so tiny) call the factory, forget about what you have, tell them what you want. The'll make it so.. enough said. now play those things
High Flying Bird Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 That was Mr. Cup poking a little fun at my question.11 Getting a strong ration of $#!+ here is a sign of respect.

I was just wondering if anyone here had ever inquired about doing such a thing. What are the money frets, anyhow? I've not heard that before. I really should play guitar more, but bass players are in demand 'round here, at least for paying gigs. Nobody wants to play bass.... everybody wanna be noodlin' on them six strings.
