big bob Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 i thought you would show yours off? trust me you don't wanna see mine, and I'm ok with not seeing yours.. as for what I think you think I thought you thunk, I'm still in the dark brother.. soon I hope. However and on second thought, if my neck, and thoughts can't be nude, my head is in the clouds..
FredZepp Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Hollow traps, like these? YES, Beautiful..... There is a killer look to those.
Thundersteel Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I saw a Les Paul at a luthier's shop and it had the ugliest yellow traps, I guess they get that way when they age, I had no idea they where using plastic. They also call them "Mother-of-Toilet-Seat." My latest Gibby purchase, which I no longer have (an ES-137), had the ugliest snot-green inlays I've ever seen. Thank goodness Heritage uses only the real McCoy!
tbonesullivan Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 The "snot green" inlays are supposed to be "antiqued" or something like that. They had them on their Les Paul "classic" series that had the ceramic humbuckers. Normally I'm not sure if the inlays they use today will EVER fade. Why they can't put real MOP on the fretboards currently is beyond me.
Thundersteel Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Why they can't put real MOP on the fretboards currently is beyond me. Because it's cheaper--that's why! Kudos to Henry J!

Jazzpunk Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I'm a fan of split blocks . . . especially on arch tops. I saw Gregg DeLorto's split block fingerboard on his Golden Eagle. It sold me! I ordered one to be custome built for me. I'll be at the factory next week to look through the wood packages with Marv. I asked him to do the neck shaping himself. He gladly agreed. I'm going with a 3.25" body depth, 17.25" lower bout width and 20-7/8" body length. Single mounted Duncan Antiquity. At this point, our only challenge is gonna be the tailpiece. I really don't care for the finger type tail piece and I don't want an ebony violin type. It make the guitar look too "beautique builder" type. I'm hoping that Marv can find one of the older, original style with the ebony insert. I plan on picking it up in person in August at PSPIII. Hope it's done by then. Patrick, that sounds awesome! I really envy you guys that are close enough to visit the shop in person. What a great experience to be able to work with Heritage directly in that manner!
