Egad. Nine weeks, and my 535 isn't done yet.

Pretty much the last time I was heard from, I was excitedly putting up an excited post about FINALLY ordering my first Heritage! A 535 in dark almond burst, bone nut, Seth Lovers, chunky neck carve, etc., working through Jeff Hale at J. Hale Music. Here's that post -

http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/i...pic=8248&hl.

That was at the end of March. Heritage estimated 6-8 weeks. But when Jeff called them last week, after 8 weeks, no dice - the guitar body was completed and they were ready for the "neck fit" process, but we're still looking at another 4-5 weeks or so. Aaaugh!

Jeff (who is a prince, by the way - great to work with) says stuff like this just happens - presumably something went wrong along the way (like what? No idea), and they had to start over. Makes sense, but it sure is frustrating to wait longer than you thought you had to. Deferred gratification is not my strong suit.

Does this happen often? Anybody have any extra Valium or something? I could kick the dog or the cat, but it would be wrong. Also, the dog bites.

I feel your pain , I once waited 6 months for a guitar....

In this case my biggest hope is not about speediness , but that it fulfills all of your expectations, and I believe that it will do that in spades.... ;)

It promises to be worth the wait... handcrafted to your specs...

hang in there :diablo_mini:

I hope you get your guitar really quickly man, but on the bright side, this may mean that the boys at Heritage are really busy and have lots of orders!! That would be a good thing.

Tough to wait for a new arrival but you wouldn't want anything rushed. One of my sayings is "you can't rush quality". Picked it up in high school..a friend was doing math at the blackboard and the teacher tried to rush him ..stuck with me for some reason.

6-8 weeks for a custom order Heritage?!? The two I custom ordered took over a year.

There was a lot of that right around the inception of the HOC, wasn't there? Yoslate's took 16 months(?). And another (sorry, forget who) was over 18 months.

JMC, My Prospect custom took 3 months; worth every moment of wait. And oh, yeah. My Millie NFH took .... exactly ..... from order to door ....... 30 days!! Ha, sorry, had to mention it. But 3 months for a custom build, not bad. The waiting isn't easy, no matter the time frame.

The orders that took so long were in a different time. There was the fire. Their was no Vince Margol.

My custom orders after the fire and after Vince took 12-15 weeks. I didn't believe it when Vince said that barring something vary bizzare from a custom order it should take around 12 weeks.

Others have ordered since then and the turn around has been right around 3 months.

OF COURSE, you should always tell your dealer you are a HOC member. Yes, absolutely we get special treatment (ie bumped up in line and a little closer attension to detail!)

Yep.. waiting isn't easy, and some of us are better than others. Right now you're probably saying.. Why didn't I do this last year, then I wouldn't be waiting now...

I'm sure it will be worth he wait. Just take a deep cleansing breath. Hold it.. Let it out slowly... Repeat..

I did just re-read your original post. Have you told your wife yet? Usually conversations with between my wife and myself about guitars end up in a discussion about whether or not she wants me getting involved with her shoe and outfit purchases. I actually won an argument with her (once.. yes it does happen very occasionally), by pulling out from her closet what looked to me to be about 6 identical pairs of black pumps. She immediately started giving me the details about the subtle differences between them and how one was right for one occasion but not some other occasion, etc. ??? I listened patiently, and then followed up with: "o.k. I'll accept that, but you're going to expect me to accept that these seemingly similar looking shoes all have different unique purposes, yet you're not willing to accept that each of my guitars has different unique sounds and purposes.. That hardly seems fair, does it?"... It was a momentous day!

yeah. . . I feel your pain. My order went on march 31st and I think it was lost, b/c we had to re-order. It's been painted, and now I suspect is going to go through the neck fitting, like yours. I'm hoping to get it by mid-July.

My Super did take sixteen months. And that guitar is worth every second of that wait...every second!

Don't feel bad, I got an email yesterday stating that a pedal I very much wanted to buy will take 16-18 MONTHS. ;)

WOW!! what pedal is it?

See, I knew that if I whined a little, I'd discover that other folks had had longer waits than me, and then I'd feel better! Okay - not "better" exactly - just less alone. ;)

All of this helps me in trying to look on the positive side - as Jeff Hale suggested to me, this shows how picky the guys at Heritage are! Or maybe that they have lots of orders, which also would be a good thing. I'm dismayed, though, by these stories of 16-18 MONTH waits. Those must've been major custom jobs. About the only really "custom" thing about my custom order is the neck carve. But I can see how that might be hard to fit into the regular production line. So we'll see. And Kuz, I did make clear to Jeff that I was an HOC member, and even sent him the link to my post back in March. I assume he passed that fact on.

It'll be worth it when it gets here!

You are a brave man, Pushover, and I admire you. If I tried that (and it'd be more like 12 identical pairs, but never mind), I'd just get a withering look, and a "that's COMPLETELY different" comment. Then the dog would bite me.

Let the folks at Heritage get it right. No doubt about it . . . it WILL be worth the wait!

If i remember correctly, my H 137 DC Deluxe took 8 weeks.....but that was a few months ago and it was just a solid body, flat top. I also think they are a little more busy now than they were a few months ago.

It will be fantastic...you wait and see!

all of a sudden its gonna be happy new guitar day around here...

can't wait...

also can't wait to play a few of the customs that make their way to the PSPIII, then when I order one, I'll know what to ask for.. (one's I bought were off the shelf or used)

hang in..

I was on the waiting list for the King Of Tone for over two years. I ended up thinking the pedal was just "meh" and sold it for a substantial profit to someone who couldn't wait.

Exactly the place I'm in, would rather have my purchased second or third hand Millie 2000, my 555, and my one of a kind 516 custom than one custom special order unit, greater tone palette from all three. I feel very fortunate and am thankful to own them. Sure enjoy the custom guitar porn here and wish the OP the very best for his newie and him.
