I had noticed a couple heritage guitar that were 2nds, I was wondering where they are sold- thru dealers or thru Heritage . That is usually some minor deal, I would be ok with a mark somewhere as long as the everything else was good. I care more about the tone and playability than some minor flaw. Also if you can order a new guitar from heritage or have to go thru dealers?

Hello sfss...

Heritage guitars always must be sold through a dealer... yes , even if it's a 2nd.

The seconds are still excellent examples of Heritage craftsmanship... ^_^

A Heritage "2" means the guitar has just a minor cosmetic flaw.

#2's do have a "cosmetic flaw" usually a finish flaw but once in a while it will be something like the binding might have been rounded too much on edge of a guitar or maybe the stain got on the binding somewhere or lately there have been some "stressed wood" flaws which if you look at the guitar in the right light it almost looks like fine laquer checking running with the grain but actually appears as if the grain had swelled somehow. I have a 535 rep sample that is like that and they sent it to me without stamping the "2" on the back of the headstock. Oops, don't tell any one! Regardless Heritage will not sell a guitar that has any issue that would affect playability or sound. You can ask the dealers about #2s as there are usually a couple on the available list that the dealers get and they are available at a little better price than the #1s. The last list has a #2, 137 in trans cherry, a #2 535 in OSB, a #2 150 in AlSB, and a #2 Prospect in OSB

I have a #2 and it's a sweet beast. It never crosses my mind that there's a little 2 on it. I don't know what you'd have to pay new, but they are usually found for a great deal used.
