Dealer recommendation

Hi. I live in Central NJ, and recently had a very positive experience with a local Heritage dealer. I wanted to do him a favor and give him a plug on the forum here.

His name is Steve Hayes, and he operates out of Colonia, NJ. You can find him on google, or send me a private message and I'll forward contact info.

He's a very talented luthier, and gives customers tremendous value with purchases. He has several nice Heritages hanging in his shop now. I recently purchased a guitar from him - not a Heritage, but a Samick L5 clone he had in his shop. When I took delivery of the guitar, I was astonished at the work he'd done on it. The "set up" included not only the typical things like action adjustment, intonation, etc., but 7 hours of labor spent cleaning and polishing this instrument, conditioning the fingerboard with oil, dressing/leveling/crowning frets, etc.

Granted....this reconditioning was necessary to a degree because the guitar had been hanging in his shop unsold for a couple of years, but still, the attention to detail and the effort put into this sale was, by far, the best I've ever had in a guitar purchase.

As I mentioned, he is a registered Heritage dealer, and I can guarantee you if you buy from him, you will be receiving a beautiful guitar in absolute tip top condition. As anyone knows who has bought, say, a $2000 Gibson from Guitar Center, it can be frustrating to buy a nice new instrument, and then have to make 1 or 2 trips to your tech to get the guitar dialed in. If you buy from Steve, I can guarantee you won't have this problem.

For grins....here is a link to some photos of my new Samick:

Why the "unsure" emoticon? I promise I'm not a spammer......I'm a guitarist, and I'm not related to Steve (nor am I actually Steve himself....heh), and I was truly, as they say, "blown away" by the work he did for me on this guitar. I would recommend anyone in NJ who wants a Heritage model to buy it from Steve. Shoot....I'm sure he would ship guitars, too. I would post his contact info, but I don't have his permission to do so (although he did OK me talking him up on message boards). He should be easy to locate for anyone who wants to find him....last I checked he was listed on the Heritage company site as a dealer.

Colonia is in Central NJ, in the corridor between the Garden State Parkway and the NJ Turnpike, close to the Metro Park railway hub. It's in Middlesex county.

I know Steve Hayes, of Steves Studio. There is no one in NJ better than Steve. He's meticulous. Also, he's a great guy. Rapid turn around, however, is not his strong suit. He'll do most any repair, refin, or fabrication . . . . but you'll need to be very patient. He'll have your guitar for a while. But . . . when you do get it back, it'll be done perfectly. He's also a pretty talented artist as well.

What you may not kmow about Steve is he is one of Heritage's oldest dealers and he is an archtop expert and he set up my new Eagle after I bought it from a big dealer Their bridges never are carved right. He also discovered a flaw in a custom acoustic I once ordered from a famed Michigan guitarmaker. The bridge was set in the wrong position on the top. The guitar never played in standard tune--only F#. The maker denied this at first. Until he got back. A full refund came my way. Btw, according to Ren, Steve was responsible for Heritage's H155 model. He has customers with brand new Gibsons and when he puts them against the new Heritages he orders on spec, the Gibson can't hold a candle to the Heritage axes.
