I am an owner of a 555. I only have three Heritage guitars. All three in their own way sound spectacular and are very well made. They are incredible in value for what I was lucky enough to pay for them. My 555 has Seth Lovers in it, and it is very, very versatile.

In my strongest opinion there is a reason why that 555 is such a wonderful instrument in comparison to other, similar type guitars...as well as the rest of the Heritage line tending to be wonderful instruments.

It has to do with the men and the girl who make the guitars! It's called "A passion for excellence."

Peace.

+1 What HE said!! ;)

The 555 looks great to me too. I love ebony. It kills me you can't get it with chrome or nickel hardware which I'd much prefer over gold.

You can custom order a new one with chrome/nickel hardware. You can also grab a used one and just change the hardware and pup covers. You'd still save money!

Speaking of, anyone have a favorite dealer (one that would ship) ? I love Wildwood but they dont' sell Heritage and there are none in Seattle. Looks like new 535's go for $1900, 555's $2800 (with all the frills).

Not sure the current prices on 535s but the 555s should come in for well under $2800.

There are a few good Heritage dealers out there . . . . . Wolfe Guitars is in my opinion, the best of all of them. If you're after "vibe" go for the 535. If you're after damn near perfection, go for the 555.

There's a nice H-535 on Ebay now.

I've done business with the seller before--never had a problem.

I saw that one too. Nice guys on the phone. They even offered to demo it (you pay shipping). That's not a bad deal. One member also had a 535 Custom for sale. I like the ebony fingerboard as an upgrade. Of the 555 extra's, that's by far my favorite.

I'll definitely call Wolf as well. They seem to have a pretty large inventory.

Preview of a 535 I am getting ready to sell.

Gotta love those Seths!! She is a real player, some play marks... 100% functional.

I have chrome bridge and Tailpiece and will check into tuners, I could probably do a swap if you need chrome.

I spoke to Ren at Heritage. Apparently they're not Pleking current guitars but of course that can be done later if needed. These guitars do seem to have a bazillion options on them. Wolfe Guitars has a few "Anniversary" models which have

  • Premium Woods (although it appears most every 535 I see has lots of curling in the maple)
    Tone Pros Bridge/Stop
    CTS control Pots
    Spraque caps
    Duncan Seth Lovers

Seems like some of these features are on all current 535's. Some are only on the Anniversary. It does make comparing apples tougher.

I saw a few at Jimmy Wallace as well. Not sure if price-talking is verbotten so I'll refrain. If anyone has advice on what I should be paying please PM me. I know from experience it can be a moving target even at honest shops. Jimmy Wallace had fewer to choose from but they were substantially cheaper.
