Guest mgoetting Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Do they have a partial center block? Do the Lollars hum much? Feedback problems? Thanks.
fxdx99 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Hi Mgo - Full hollow, the P90s are a single coil pickup and by design are subjective to 60-cycle. I haven't encountered feedback issues, but am not playing with a lot of gain or even volume. Given the hollow body, will likely have a point of feedback earlier than a semi, it just hasn't been an issue for how I've used it.
Guest mgoetting Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I saw a picture of one that was stock except for humbuckers.
fxdx99 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I recall that pic here, too. Probably would work well. I like P90s and especially in the 525... it just has that... well, that 'something' that makes it very rootsy. The neck is incredibly warm, the in between nice and 'honky' and the treble is rock-a-billy. Fun guitar to play. And it just looks so cool. Yeh, what I like about it is that it is really light at just over 6 lbs and the thinner body shape make it really comfortable to play. It's cool looking, especially w/the dogears on it. And it covers a lot of ground with a pretty good woody jazz tone on the neck and good for blues (my fav) and country stuff, too. I should comment on the 'buzz' - the P90s aren't any worse than a strat or tele or any single coil for 60-cycle hum. There are a few places in town that are just plain NOT single coil guitar friendly and I can't stand to bring any sc guitars, but most where I play it's fine.
fxdx99 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I just like excuses to post pics... behold the beauty... the power... the tone

Kuz Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Like Randy said...... No center block.... I have experienced very little hum..... and with the top being plywood (like 335s and Heritage's 535/555) the level before feedback is amazing loud (close to semi-hollow levels). What type of music do you play? -For Jazz, blues, and even classic rock tones..... the 525 is incredible. Remember George Thorogood?
