tonejunkie Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I am going to have a H150 built to replace my 57 VOS Goldtop Can you custom order wood to get into a certain weight range? At or under 8lbs (upcharge?) Is the Heritage goldtop finish the same as a gibson goldtop finish? (opinions) I would really like to get Wolftone pickups in this guitar can I have the custom shop install them? I would also like to use a Faber locking abr1 bridge can I have the custom shop install that as well? I am going to have a custom neck shape as well which I have been told they do but will the custom shop put jumbo frets in the neck for me?
Kuz Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 -Yes, you can request a weight limit. -Not sure if it the Gold top color is exactly the same, but I have 2 gold top 150s and they are gold tops. -You can have Heritage order any pickup you want or (like I have) you can buy the pickups and have Heritage install them for you. -You can buy or have them order what bridge you want, but they use the Nashville style for better long term stability -Yes they will build the neck to your exact measurements, I have never asked about jumbo frets, so as for as frets go I am not sure (but if I was a betting man I would guess YES to the frets, but again I am not sure.) Heritage is a custom shop and will do ALMOST anything you ask!!!
High Flying Bird Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 .......but will the custom shop put jumbo frets in the neck for me? Every guitar that comes out of the Heritage factory is a custom shop guitar. I have the saw dust in my camera to prove it.
tonejunkie Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 All of your answers sound great but I would really like a ABR1 bridge. Will the custom shop do that? I hope so. I don't really have a shop that is near me to order the guitar from (I live is Spokane, WA). Does it matter what dealer I order from?
ledzef Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 A luthier friend of mine said that a goldtop is taking from DuPont's Cadillac gold from the 50's and with today's technology I doubt they would have a hard time matching paint color.

Gitfiddler Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 "Is the Heritage goldtop finish the same as a gibson goldtop finish? (opinions)." No, the Heritage Goldtop is more Champagne-Gold. Gibson's is a slightly darker Bullion-Gold. This is based on a comparison of my R7 Goldtop and H150 Goldtop. If you definitely want Heritage to match Gibson's color...you might be out of luck. Let us know what your Heritage dealer says however.
FredZepp Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 thread with gold top 535 I remembered this thread with a comment of using "gold paint from Guitar Reranch".... by Orangepicker.. who is also a Rep/ Dealer for Heritage. Perhaps he has some thoughts..... I always liked the look of the LP Signature so I had them make the following. It does have a dove inlay on the headstock that I designed. I know Heritage has used this on other peoples guitars as well. This guitar has inlaid logo with no binding on the headstock, Sperzels, Tom Holmes pickups, Thicker neck, plastic cream JS shape pickguard, bound f-holes, gold paint from Guitar Reranch, Trapezoid inlays, Walnut back and sides. This was built in 2008
