pcovers Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Anyone have pics of the Heritage folks in the neck making process? A lot of talk about CNC machines and outsourcing necks by quite a few small shop builders, I'd like to get educated on (and see) how Heritage does their necks.
FredZepp Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 It's great on the factory tour to watch it being done by hand, the old-fashioned way... check some of the pics here.. >>>>>>PSP II Gallery >>>>>>PSP I gallery
tulk1 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Here's the Neck Man, himself - Marv Lamb. Here's their version of a CNC router. It rough cuts the semi/hollow tops and backs before they finish shaping them by hand. Jiggin up the sides of a semi. A few unfinished necks. Testing the fit. Gluing in. This is one of my favs. Sitting on the floor waiting for the necks to set. Being sanded to the binding. Shaping the neck. All the bits in the air are wood. He forgot to turn on the vacuum in this pic.
