What's the standard hardware on new 555's/535's ?

Wolfe had several that listed Tone Pros Bridge/Stop. CTS Pots, Sprague Caps etc. I couldn't tell if they were just listing them or they were upgrades. Anyone know ?

I am almost positive those are all standard features now.

Thanks. The new models are a bit mysterious. Some seem to have super-quilted maple which I assume is the premium wood upgrade on their site seldom are the guitars priced differently at shops than those without it.

Nice 555. How do you like the Lollar's ?

When you say Quilted maple do you mean flamed maple? Quilted maple is pretty rare on a Heritage. They do have a premium wood package for more flamed maple.

I have one which is more Blur maple (cross between quilt & flamed maple)

I have three Lollar p-90 guitars... a 150 Gold top p-90, a 525 p-90, and the first production produced 535 p-90 (click on the pics in my signature to enlarge)

So do I like the Lollar p-90s....well let's just say there are days when I am asking myself why do I own humbuckers & single coil guitars..... (yea they are UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!)

I'm sure I'm confusing my fancy grain. I'm sure it's flamed.

I have a Peerless Gigmaster with P90's. I'll have to check out lollars. I always wondered how the stock P90's stacked up against a top make like Lollar or Harmonic Designs.

From Ren: "The upgraded wood package guarantees a pretty top". Meaning, if the wood hasn't fancy grain when it comes off the pile, you may not get the pretty wood. But I've seen very few stock Heritages that didn't have awesome tops standard. I've not ordered the premium package in either custom order, but the tops on them are spectacular. Rarely do you see a plain top either, altho' even those look darned cool with the 'boys finishes.

3 of the 4 custom orders I have done I paid for the "premium wood Upgrade" (the other one was a Gold top so no flamed wood needed).

BUT, if I could be assured to get the wood as pretty as Kenny's standard wood..... I never would pay the price. Kenny's custom guitars have some of the best tops I have seen.

Like Ren said, "If you want a killer top, you may get it without the Premium wood package, but with the Premium Wood package you are paying for an inssurance policy assuring you will get a killer top"

That makes sense. I guess this 555 one just got unlucky.

I'm not sure whatyou see a special about this top. Other than the color shading, which is magnificent, the wood is rather . . . boring, as it relates to flame or curl. However, with that being said, some people, myself included actually like the plain top on a 335 . . . OOPS!! Freudian slip there, I meant 535. It kinda has more of a vintage vibe that the gorgeously flamed/curly maple. I could easily see that beautiful 535 at Jimmy Wallaces in my collection. I'm OK with the plain top on it. However, on a 150 . . . "if it ain't got the wood . . . it ain't no good"

That's why I said it got "unlucky". It looked unusually plain for a 535/555. Their 535 does look amazing. I know what you mean about plain top. I love the look of the figured wood but that wouldn't make me pay the extra $400+ Gibson gets for them.

I gotta learn how to read!! I though the post said that "this one got lucky" But as I said, even with the relatively plain top, that is still one beautiful 535. I would be proud to own that bad boy. Also, sometimes, the guitars that have a plain top realize that they don't look quite as "pretty" as their brothers and sisters with a more figured top. . . . so they make it their business to play and sound better than they look

I know it's a 555 ., . . .of course I do . . . . . you think I didn't know that??? Anyone knows it's a 555 . . . not a 535 . . . .. only an idiot would refer to it as a 535 . . . . . and I didn't do that . . . or else I would be an idiot :D :D

I agree, the 555 top is still nice. My preferred combination is a 555 with chrome/nickel hardware. I just like ebony.

I dunno...I really dig slightly more plain tops. Maybe when the time comes Wolfe will give me a discount? :D

Dreaming there. A standard top (flamed or unflamed) is the the same cost. Sorry.

But maybe if a plain top hasn't been sold in a few years, then maybe you would get your discount.

But a discount just cause it has a plain top.... no, sorry.

Heh. I've bought several instruments from him, and I still don't get a discount!
