eljay Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 this question surely has been posed before but not by me. as psp3 approaches (and i'm attending), the notion of saying hello to the folks who build the guitars is starting to resonate with me. i know other folks on hoc have emphasized this point in prior posts. anyway, thank you for info. eljay
Kuz Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I can think of at least Four. Brent may have a better answer.
Patrick Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I can think of . . . Jim, Marv, Ren, Jack French, Floyd. Those are the guys who are passing the skills to the non Gibson employees, much like Jim "Hutch" Hutchins (RIP) was doing down in Nashville. The passion was always James Hutchins, J. P. Moates, Jim Duerloo, Marv Lamm . . . in no particular order. There were others for sure, but those guys lived and breathed guitars building. Hutch goes back to 1963 with Gibson in K'zoo. He interviewed with Julius Bellson and Ted McCarty for the job. A lot of history there. Someone should write a book while those ol'boys are still around to recall that history.
