A couple of interesting ones in this group...

I'd love to get my hands on a 480 acoustic or a Heritage mandolin (nice headstock), or... mmm a thin eagle TDC.

Some seldom seen rarities there.

( I like the 445 also, but picked the 480 as a bit more unusual )

Welcome akguitar - now there's a rare one! Haven't ever seen a 480 other than the catalog pic. is it kind of a 'gypsy jazz' voiced guitar (the oval sound hole)? Thanks for posting.

Here... let's have a better look at this one...

That is sweet.. I don't remember seeing another like it here, so far.

I love it's look. It's a bit exotic.

Hi! Thanks for posting!

I used to think the 480 was a kind of "gypsy jazz" guitar until I purchased a real "gypsy jazz" guitar last year. The 480 does have an oval sound hole, but sounds more like a bright/loud dreadnought. It's a very interesting guitar. I've played all styles on it over they years and have concluded that it's best for a big rhythm sounds.

Great forum here, lot's of fun.

looks like a p/g was installed and taken off????

p/g??? It does have a clear pick guard. I had it put on about 13 years ago. The guitar color has gotten darker over the years, but the wood underneath the p/g hasn't, that's why it looks like one was taken off. I had it put on because the body was getting scratched up.

AK, that 480 looks pretty cool. I have another out of production model, the 475.

The big rhythm sound of Franco/American Swing? '

Nice guitar. I wish that was on my wall.

Ah, Franco/American Swing! Are you a John Jorgenson fan by chance? I sure am! I would say that the 480 is not a first choice for gypsy jazz. It doesn't have the bright, piercing tone of a standard gypsy jazz guitar (I own a John Jorgenson Signature model). Over the years of extensive use, I now turn to the 480 for strumming open tuning grooves and recording contemporary acoustic rhythm tracks. It's more comparable to a standard dreadnought guitar than gypsy jazz.
