High Flying Bird Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I got the beat up HFT445 today. It is beat 6 ways to Sunday but it plays and sounds great. I am going to clean it tonight and polish it. It really needs some love. I have photos posted and I will post more after I get her cleaned up. The sides look dull but I am betting that they will sparkle after I hit them with some polish. The fret board and neck are in good shape. The action is very low compared to my old 445. It sounds just like the other 445. brentrocks Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 as long as it is solid...that's what matters...very cool!!!
Dick Seacup Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I like beat up guitars. They have character built in. The 445 has walnut sides and back? Love the shape of the pickguard, very "boomerang Formica" or "Jetsons"-esque.
chico Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 That guitar looks pretty good (this coming from someone with a factory second 445). The splits in the spruce top are no big deal, Jim D. told me mine would make it sound better when I got mine like that from the factory! Only thing I see that would concern me would be the neck, looks a little funny at the joint. Otherwise-enjoy! Chico
Thundersteel Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I like all those signatures on the label--cool!
High Flying Bird Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 It cleaned up pretty good compared to how it started. There were pieces of clear tape on parts of it. It made no sense. This guitar needs a good home for a change. The sides are Mahogany and they are in good shape. The neck joint looks spooky but plays great. Good intonation. Strait neck. The tone is killer. The tuners are in perfect shape. There is an active pickup under the bridge. It may be a Fishman because there is a Fishman sticker on the case. The pick up sounded good.
