Steiner Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Actually, last Friday was NGD. Smurf1 did an Excellent job getting her out to me {Thanks Smurf1!!!}. I didn’t even look her over (it was too good of a steal) ‘till I went to take pictures. There’s a couple bruises but by no means hurt. I was happy to see there was not a repaired headstock. The photos don’t do the wood justice. The trans cherry finish is Beautiful and does this fire-breathing monster justice! She arrived clean as a whistle and ready to tune. I had been playin a couple hours on humbuckers when she arrived. As soon as I struck the first chord I was aghast! What a honk! I Love it! OK Kuz, you’re right. There should be a P-90 in the arsenal; I see it. So the day has arrived, I already have some #4 screws to permanently apply the finger rest. One of the major selling facets was the included Cryoman pick guard. What do you think? Should I drill the 5 x ½” holes to seat the black sheath of protection???
FredZepp Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Man... that looks like a blast to play. A good grab on your part.. as you know. If it were mine... I'd install that pickguard permanent . It looks rockin'.
kbp810 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Looks great either way, ...but I vote pickgaurd as well!
shook494 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Nice!! I vote pick guard. I wouldn't usually, but that one looks rockin!
big bob Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 what does the guitar look like, I'm having trouble seeing around that bright red thing.. How does she sound.
Guest mgoetting Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I'd put the guard on if it serves a purpose. I do like the looks with it on also.
smurph1 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 i'm prejudiced cuz she used to be mine..But, protect that finish with that fine custom made pickguard..Rock on
schundog Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I vote no pickguard for now, but if you start to tear it up, adding the pickguard will cover it up; heck, if you are drilling the holes anyway, it's not like you are ever going to take the pickguard off, so it won't matter that the finish started to get dinged up by then; and, for now, you get to show off the finish of the guitar. My .02 on the guitar I DIDN'T win!! haha.
skydog52 Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Nice get Gregg. I like the guard too. Tone machine!
Steiner Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 Well Gents, I done did the dirty deed. 5 nice new SS fasteners and she's there. I remember photos of Cryoman's pickguard from a couple years back and pining heavily at that time. All things in due time! I popped the control cavity cover and found the guitar had come through Wolfe's. Mt first. Thank you to Smurf1 for providing me the opportunity. This guitar has got good acoustic sound, resonates like a bell and breathes fire with the P-90s - Love It! Thanks to all for chiming in. I was fairly dead set on doing it, I just needed some confirmation from the continuum .
