I miss that guitar from time to time. Glad it found a good home.

That used to be your 140?

Yup. Lance bought it off me.

Ah, so it was strapped on you when he bought it, hence he "bought it off you". Kewl!

Let me say something. If I had a gig that meant life or death to me... if I knew that the failure of my amp would mean some kind of unacceptable consequences... I would bring a Roland to that gig, not any kind of boutique amp.

The Jazz Academy in Columbus, OH uses JC-120s in their school. These things are turned on twelve hours a day and nobody ever does anything to maintain or take care of them... they all still work, and they all sound great. Yeah, Roland's idea of "Distortion" is just that --- distorted. That's why God made the TS-808.

Wow! That's one hell of a good sales pitch. I've heard of Roland amps but I've never heard one and (till now) never even heard anyone speak of them. So I now feel compelled to look into that brand and become more familiar with them.

Like any amp, they aren't for everybody but they do the trick for me.

I don't know when I am going to get time to line everything up. So this is what I have:

American Tube

Mesa Mark V Combo Private Reserve

Mesa Maverick Combo 2x12 Hardwood Maple

White Face Gibson GA-5T "Skylark" ca. 1966

White Face Gibson GA-40RVT "Saturn" ca. 1966 from the mighty BrentRocks

John Kasha/Phil X "Evil Robot" Combo (one of the first 100 made)

KBP810 Trainwreck Rocket Clone

Heritage Patriot Combo

Heritage Victory Combo

TAF FB-5 head

TAF FB-10A head, first TAF amp ever built

Crate BlueVoodoo 4x10 cab with Celestions

TAF 1x12 Celestion cab

Roland

Roland VGA-3

Roland VGA-5

Roland VGA-7

Roland GC-405 "Mini Stack"

British-ish

Marshall 1962 "Bluesbreaker" 2x12 Combo 30w Reissue

Orange Micro Crush (made in China of course)

Solid State Miscellany

Crate BX-50

Vox VT50

Samson Expedition 510i

What I still want:

A pair of Acoustic 360s, maybe Reissues, because of Jaco

An Acoustic 134 for the Metheny sound

A good solid Roland JC120

A real, perfect blackface Princeton Reverb

Probably a few more Mesa hardwood amps

The Slash AFD Marshall head and a stack on which to put it, although I will never play a venue that needs it

That's it, more or less!

Princeton Reverb and a Deluxe Reverb are nearly the same amp... Slight different tremolo/vibratos design....

I totally forgot that I had this amp. Yes, it counts as an amp!

Plugs into the guitar jack and headphones into the "amp".

Works pretty good, especially when I don't want anyone to hear me play (which is 99% of the time).

I'm a little biased of course (excuse the amp pun :) ) but if it's amp porn you want, check out the July edition of ToneQuest Report for a cool review/article on Humphrey Amps. You can download the pdf from:

http://www.humphreyamps.com

Also - tons more pics on the Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/humphrey.amps

And just for good measure, here's a recent one (made with black walnut)

Thanks Guys!!

Can't resist adding another couple pics - just finishing this single-channel amp for shipping to Canada. I love the figuring in this walnut . . .

I don't think I'm ever going to have all my stuff in the same place for pic so here's a list, it's not nearly as exotic as some collections on here.

77 or 78 silverface Vibro Champ (cna't remember)

66 blackface Super Reverb

Peavey ValveKing 50 watt combo

RMS 60 watt solid state combo practice thingy

Crate 15R (another practice thingy)

KBP Tweed Head (souped up to 40 watts I call it the beast)

1961 Cordovox cab loaded with a 12inch Eminence Texas Heat and 12inch Jenson MOD (was actually an accordian amp and was gutted to use just for a speaker cab, super light but it's wedge shaped so you can't set a head on top of it.)

Kustom 1 X 12 with Celestion Seventy80

Been thinking about building a class a amp around 15 watts and putting it in the RMS cab as it never gets used, but my daughter might use it so I don't know.

I decided to line them all up and take a pic. Pretty average stuff, and, as you can see, I'm kinda stuck on Fender circuits. I WILL get a Marshall 18 Watt clone someday, prefereably built by KBP810. From Left to Right, top to bottom, I have:

1. Vox ADVT-30

2. Peavey Classic 30, Weber Blue Dog speaker

3. Fender Acoustisonic 30

4. Mustang I

5. Fender Blues Junior, full complement of BillM mods

6. KBP810 Tweed Deluxe 5E3 clone

7. Fender Deluxe Reverb Re-issue

8. 70s Silverface Fender Champ

9. Fender Blues Junior; picked this one up in trade for the Fender Mustang IV I realized was TOO much amp for my needs.

10. Fender Super Champ XD

11. Berringer Ultrabass 1200 Bass amp for jams, sitting atop my little PA for jams.
